2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours without head, brownish, looks like tea! The aroma is smokey, meaty. The flavour has an initial fruity tart edge which was identified as a defect but was pehaps the best element of the taste. The finish is smokey with a perfumey, dry aftertaste.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle at the March 2014 De Molen monthly tasting. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a thin broken white head. The aroma is big smoke and a weird burnt rubber. It almost knocked me over. Good job I was sitting. The flavour is medium sour with a sour citrus smoky palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. It’s a very different beer and someone might like it, but I can’t see anyone setting up a fan club!

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle at monthly 2nd Tuesday tasting at De Molen, hosted by dEnk. Hazy orange pour. Aroma is full of smokey tea, with the Lapsang Souchon clearly recognizable. Flavor is very watery and a bit sour. Bitter tea in the finish.

330ml Flasche. Ins Glas ergießt sich ein leicht trübes orangebraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr rauchig, geräuchertes Obst. Geschmack trocken malzig fruchtig, leicht rauchig, interessant!

I’n surprised, but this indeed tastes like smokey tea. Weird, but interesting and quite nice.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear golden-amber beer, no head to speak of. Woody, smoked ham, mildly phenolic. Clear Rauchmalz, very Bambergian. Woody, sulphur, mild phenols, sweetish/bitterish/salty. Good balance - pity that there is no carbonation whatsoever, which might have added a little acidic touch for an even more perfect balance. Smoked beechpellets, tarry, some tannins. As something from the Weber smoker. Flat as a pancake, light body, faintly slick. Becomes straight cold Lapsan Souchong in the aftertaste. Sh*t! Never regretted absence of carbonation more than with this one - it might have turned out a real winner. In the end, it’s indeed more cold tea than beer...

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle 330 ml at home, ABV at 4.7%. Poured into a tulip.
Dark orange colour on the body, one finger of off-white head on top. Thin, with average retention. Light lacing on the glass.
Aroma has lots of smoke, peat smoked ham, wood.
Taste is also very smokey, with burnt wood, smoked ham, ashes, herbs.
Medium thin body,low carbonation.
Too much smoke for me, I’d pass next time.

1.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
At first 4,7 % is standing on my bottle. Almost no head so i hope this one isn?t polluted light chestnut/orange brown colour, smoked sharp peppery smell, low on carbonation therefore a bit watery, same smokey taste as in the smell, some soft coffee bitter, a bit fruity like in the start, I think this one is not as it should be... Watery texture
