2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Thanks bierkoning! Amber color, small white head. Sticky aroma of tea leaves and smoke. Medium-bodied. Sticky, some berryish notes, tartness, black tea and smoke. Smoke + tea = too messy combination.

2.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from De Hopduvel in Gent. Bottled on 09/09/2013. Label is brilliant, easily one of the best labels ever. I am a big fan of both Tarry Souchong & Lapsang Souchong teas. Label says that this was made with the Lapsang variety, the reviews mention Tarry, odd, they are comparable but they are still pretty different. Not sure which they used here, if I had to guess I would be slightly inclined to say Tarry. Pours a dark tea-coloured amber with zero head. Nose is big on Souchong smoke, campfire, kindled with branches, flowers, candy sugar, light smoked bacon, tea is heavy with a light beer undertone. Taste is full of Souchong, the smoke, kindled campfire, light smoked bacon coupled with candy sugar & caramel sweetness with flowers, oily sweetness underneath; slightly floral, faint grass in the back, lingering campfire smoke in the back. Little carb. oily, slightly watery & super easy to drink. This is like they made tea using a Belgian Ale instead of water. I love it! I don’t agree with the first reviews suggesting to use “Bloed, Zweet en Tranen” as the base beer for this, what is the point of that? It would totally drown out all of the tea flavours.

33cl, at 4.7%Vol, as Wijsbier ’Smoking Gun’, new exclusive Dutch brew Anno 2012, with Lapsang Souchong tea (smoked tea), from De Hopduvel Gent, not complex smoked brew, malty/smoked and slightly spicy/woody, yet balanced, hazy, nearly no head, nothing special, yet original brew!
