330ml bottle. Pitch black colour with late awakening, huge, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Dark malty aroma has notes of dark chocolate, coffee, leather, shoe polish. Taste is initially dry, roasty dark malty, then with spicy, peppery, sourish chilli notes, in the long lasting finish again with chocolate and leather notes, some treacle and vanilla; sticky palate. Not as rich and multifaceted as De Molen’s best Impy Stouts, but still an intense, flawless and well balanced high quality example. Smoke?

Pours deep black with a thin tan head, the lively carbonation keeps this going well into the drink. The aroma is sweet coffee & chocolate. The taste is dark, smoky, savoury malts to start, followed quickly with a sweet spiciness that fills the mouth, coating the back of the throat, slowly pushing towards the front, encompassing the whole mouth. The body is thinner than expected, but the lively carbonation works well with the chilli’s. The after-taste is long, but not as complex as I would have wanted, although the spice comes through well, perfectly pitched . Overall a great beer, very drinkable (dangerous) for the ABV, another cracker from De Molen!

330ml bottle, pours deep dark brown with a large off white head. Aroma is chocolate malts with a balance of chilli and alcohol. The balance is great and this is very easy to drink.. Dense body and rich mouthfeel, a very well crafted, tasty beer with lots of spice and strength.

Bottle - thanks MrH! Pours opaque black, small tan head, some lacing. Aroma is roasty, coffee, chocolate, ashtray, smoke. Flavor is the same, rich and malty, smoky, chili peppers with spiciness coming on toward the finish. Light sweet, light bitter, quite tasty actually. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Nice effort.

Bottle@home. Poured pitch black, with a lacing beige head. Aroma of molasses, caramel, honey, chilli, a bit earthy, oak, vanilla, dark fruits, tons of dark chocolate, complex all over. Dense body, fairly flat. Roasty aftertaste, tons of spiciness, which blends really well with the hops, well balanced between the extremes. Outstanding!

almost black colour, minimal brown head; aroma of chocolate, roastedness and smoke, maybe some spicyness; taste of roasted coffee, some dark chocolate and huge amount of hot chilli - causing long lasting burn in the mouth;a bit too much for me...

bottle at home. poured a black colour with a tan head. direct hit from the chili pepper, the coffee and chocolate flavour are gone after a few sips. some dark fruits in the beginning smooth and balanced beer. if you like spiced beers this is the one. the peppers hit you right in the throat.

Unlike the naga joloki, this one is balanced. First tones of coffee and roasted malt, after that some sharp pepper, but not too dominant. The barrel aging makes the beer more smooth and gentle, has some distant vanilla as well. Very good.
