Genial!! 11/13/13/14//14

Draught @ Borefts Beer Festival 2009 - De Molen.
Unclear medium orange brown color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy wood, chips - spruce wood, cognac, caramel, dried fruit. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20091030]

Tasted and tapped at the first, great, Borefts Beer Festival 2009 @ De Molen. Brown, orange colored brew. Sweet, oak aroma with a lot of cognac. Flavor is also a lot of cognac, sweet malty, some dried fruits, sharp warming alcohol. Great beer, but a little too much cognac maybe. Also tried 2/3 normal De Molen IJsbock with 1/3 of this one and that was a booming combination.

A Mes rate. Draught at 1st Borefts Beer Festival.
Cloudy mahogany with a thin film of off white collar. Looks like it means business and my god it does. Amazing smoky wood and sweet congac litterally fall out of the glass and bombard the senses. It’s seriously over the top yet, for all I’d like to cut this beer in half, it’s just awesome. The dry, charred oak and the boozy spirits sit together REALLY well. Some alcohol flavours but remarkably little heat, burnt fruit pie, and excellent caramel. Surprisingly drinkable for what it is, yet I know I couldn’t drink much of it. Way over the top and over indulgent but wow wow wow, it’s just an epic beer.

On tap at Borefts BF 09. Very cognac-y. It is good, but maybe not as good as the 2 other versions. Some toffee and some goodish orange fruit.

Rating 1300. Tap @ Borefts Beer Festival 2009. Hazy ruby red - brown colour, off-white lacings. Aroma of sweet cognac and fruits. Flavour of sweet malts, cognac, oak, caramel. Lovely.

On tap at BBF. Nice brown body. Nose quite oaky with malts. Nice sweet taste of oaks and cocnac. Oaky and bitter finish. Seriously high ABV and I just loved it. My favorite of the three.

On tap at 1st BBF at De Molen. Beer poured a hazy brown body with a light character in the middle of the body. Slight off white head. The aroma gives a strong oak character along with some malt and fruit notes. There is a very present cognac character in the taste and wonderful dried fruit notes. After all of that there is still a hop bitterness that lasts on the tongue.

Had this at the Borefts Beer Festival, De Molen Brewery, Bodegraven, Netherlands 30-10-09 I had only a very small sample of this courtesy of Ken? Cheers mate. Much better than the Simcoe version, pours mid brown bit murky, quite fruity once again the alcohol is very well disguised, the cognac really does show, good stuff. A8 A3 F7 P4 Ov15 3.7
