Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are rich dry roast malt, coffee, chocolate, wood, notes of smoke, caramel and hops.

13/05/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Nera opaca, con abbondante schiuma color beige, abbastanza persistente. Al naso è un vero trionfo di luppolo e caffè che ricorda moltissimo la Tsarina Esra. In bocca conferma in pieno tutte le sensazioni olfattive, pur risultando nel complesso molto meno convincente, specie a lungo andare. Rispetto alla Tsarina manca un po’ di corpo, la gradazione alcolica è meno elevata, ed è più carbonata. Buona, ma mi aspettavo di più.

On tap at 4:20, Rome. Very dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma has some smoke and spice, roasted malts. Flavour has chocolate, licorice, nice sweet finish.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty spicy chocolate aroma with weak smoky hints. Roasted malty sweetish chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty sweetish spicy chocolate finish.

Bottle. almost black with small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, medium sweet, liquorice, wood, caramel, little smoke, dark fruits and medium bitter.

Pours pitch black with a small beige head. Aroma has notes of roasted malts, licorice, ash and chocolate. Taste is quite malty and slightly roasty with hints of spices, licorice and ash. Finish is long lasting and slightly roasty. Quite well balanced and tasty, but not very Christmasy.

Bottled. The aroma has some roasted malts, caramel, some fruitiness and spice. Hazy, dark brown coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is sweet, light bitter, has some chocolate, caramel and spices. Bit dry palate.
