4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Massive chocolate/coffee nose, lots of sweet dark fruit, berries, raw meat, some fumes. Pitch black, with a constant one-finger dark tan head. Great coffee initial, smooth and sweet chocolate in mid palate, creamy and delicious. Medium-heavy body. A great stout. The coffee is always present but does not overwhelm. Not overboiled or scorched. Smooth and thick.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tasted as Wijsbier Luwak Beer Exclusive StoutViscous as molasses, but somehow, a very dense and fine, cream to rust-brown head builds up, turning very stable and going down with classical lacerings; the beer being near-black brown. Sweet & burnt nose. Coffee, wood, molasses, treacle, scorched sugar. Bitter-roasted-burnt - but with a serious, chocolate-like sweetness very present in the background. Finish has something metallic-bitter, getting quinine-like in the aftertaste, long-lingering. Very thick and velvety MF, despite the sluggish pour, feeling quite well-carbonated. I can’t get excited over this one. And then there’s the poor sh*tting animal...

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a pitch black with no head to speak of. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, coffee, dark chocolate, more coffee. Flavour is sweet mocha, dark chocolate. Very nice coffee stout. However, after reading about the cruelty behind the Kopi Loewak coffee, I am glad De Molen chose to stop brewing this beer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Biiter stout, weinig zout en licht ntanine koffie smaak. Zwaar maar met een milde nasmaak, niet heel hoppig.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Beermongers. Pours a dark black color with a medium brown head. A huge pepper nose, roast and coffee. The flavor is more heavy sweet coffee, comes in as green pepper, vanilla, toffee. Not my favorite thing. Pretty sweet, milky. A solid coffee beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This one poured a darker brown color with a lighter tan head. Aroma was of coffee, soy, roast and dark chocolate. Flavor was mainly dark chocolate and roasted coffee, still thin though and a bit hollow.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Had on draft at Beer Mongers. Big jalapeno coffee notes, chocolate, coffee. The coffee character in this beer is all pepper, not very pleasant.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at the Beer Monger, Portland.
Black pour, tan head with long lived lacing. Ashen aroma, more so than I like, tobacco smoke and black coffee. The coffee brings a bright acidity to the flavor, melding with dark molasssy fresh-baked bread. Relatively sweet flavor -- a lot of sugar in this particular coffee. Quite hot. I’m not so impressed by this one and am glad I have only 4oz to make my way through.
