3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Douberd (683) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 17, 2013
Bottle, 330 ml, at home. Into a snifter. ABV 11.2%
Pours pitch black, with a thin line of beige foam on top. Low retention of course, the foam disappears in seconds, leaving just some traces on the surface.
Aroma of coffee, all the way. Smells like an espresso, but cold. It does become better after a swirl of the glass, but nothing impressive, just some heavily roasted malts. Warming up also seems to make this beer some good, as aromas of chocolate seem to surface.
Taste of coffee as well. Only here there are notes of alcohol, a little bit of chocolate, roasted malts as well.
Medium body, light carbonation. A soft numbing feeling on the palate from the alcohol.
Overall, not that great. I expected something more from this one.

Bottle split with the wife, while wrangling the little one. Pours jet black with minimal head. Nose of black coffee. Taste continues as the coffee onslaught continues. Slight astringency. Body is big with a slightly creamy structure.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pailhead (3887) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - JUN 14, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy roasted coffee, light chocolate, peppers, and a touch of alcohol. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a large beige head with good retention. The flavor starts with moderate dark chocolate and cocoa. There’s a hint of vanilla in the background. The finish has moderate roasted coffee and a hint of alcohol. It’s medium-full bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel. Overall, it’s tasty, but the pepper in the aroma is distracting.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 PhillyCraft (2125) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 13, 2013
Bottle from Hunger Mountain Co-op and belgium. Notes of roast, chocolate, coffee, and barrel. Similar to the 2010 but not as balanced. Still an excellent imperial stout with shit coffee. Proost to De Molen.

Black pour with a foaming head that just grows and grows until it spills over and your wife complains. Nice strong coffee and fruit aroma. Nutty and fruity coffee flavour, dark chocolate, medium bitterness. Really excellent stuff.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Prufrockstar (226) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 9, 2013
Thanks to Tom for sharing this bottle! Beautiful black pour with thick tan head. Amazing, intense coffee from start to finish. Smooth texture, soft carbonation, medium-full body. Roast espresso, some chocolate, remarkably dry and not even remotely harsh, which is surprising considering how black/bitter/strong this coffee--er, beer--smells. Overall: one of my favorites of the night -- this was really, really good. Then again, I’m a huge coffee fiend, so it’s not surprising this one speaks to me.

330. Pours jet black with a dense and creamy dark tan head. Huge espresso nose, rich and roasty, right in your face. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Roasty, dark, rich and coffeed-up mid palate. There’s a flicker of dark chocolate sweetness at the beginning, then all goes dry. So delicious.
