Cute little dumpy bottle from De Bierkoning: 1297 of 1416, bottled 14/04/10. Deep black with a fine cappuccino collar. Sweet, decadent, fudge dunked in Irish coffee aroma; some dark raisiny alcohol. Slightly warming on the tongue with a with prickling carbonation, bitter chocolate and black coffee notes. Smoked kippers deep in the mix with black pepper. Good, deep nightcap brew but can’t touch the Hemel&Aarde

Bottle, thanks to Slovaksniper (Merci Pat!). Uncapped like a bomb, first time a cap makes a gunshot sound. Needless to say, an impressive gusher followed, but we managed to catch most of the beer. Nice black pour with a rocky off white head and heavy lacing. Aroma of coffee cake, smoked malt, roast grain and a bit of dark fruits. Coffee is less subtle in the taste than in the nose, bold, bittering coffee, fruity finish. Palate is well carbed, body is heavy and alcohol is present but this IS remains quite drinkable.

Bottle shared by Dutchdrebus. Pitch black, opaque colored beer with no head, just a barely visible off-white lacing. Smell ash, earth, liquorice, chocolate. Taste ash, earth, liquorice, chocolate and coffee. Pretty dead: low carbonation, low to medium body. Flat taste, oily, texture. Disappointing. Bad bottle maybe?

Medium roast coffee, lactose, very strong aroma. Cloudy brown, thick tan head. Latte and charred oak flavor. Hops aren’t terribly prominent but the flavor of thistle remains on the palate as the coffee fades. Delicious and very well made.

Nip bottle, bottled 5/3/2009, Bottle #3. Poured somewhat deep brown with a colossal cap of yellowy-beige head (like 3-1 ratio). The aroma was sweet, with a delicate blend of coffee, honey, and molasses leading.. treacle and rich vanilla bean deeper down.. interesting warm, dark, rich sugars. The flavor opened with some tangy coffee beans and earth, with molasses and honey settling onto the core afterward.. tasty coffee and vanilla extended outward.. black peppery alcohol, rye, and more assertive coffee on the long, memorable finish. Medium-plus with a bit too much carbonation on the palate.. sweet overall.. silky feel to it (around the carbonation).. I’d gladly drink this again.

180 ml wedding gift from lushawn- thanks for going off the registry, Shawn! Split with the wife. Pours a dark, deep, murky chocolate brown with an initially big foamy tan head that settles into a thin film for the duration of the drink. Aroma of rich, roasty, dry coffee, plus molasses, toasted sugar, cocoa, and earth. Flavor brings a heavier dose of earth to go along with the dry, rich coffee, molasses, cocoa, and toast. Medium-bodied (a little light, really), with a dry palate and modest soft carbonation. I don’t have anything as profound as "Do molen good at making stouts" with which to end my rating, so I will just say that I always enjoy drinking De Molen’s unique stouts and greatly appreciate my friend’s gift.

on bottle @Ebrius, dark brown color, a lot of coffee, then malt in aroma. The extremly malt body hide the alchool, taste is coffee, liquorice, malt and tosted. One of my best
