Magic_dave6 (3536), London, England Oct 18, 2005 An exstreamly weird beer w have here, not a smoked as i have found them to be anyway. Aroma is of white woods. Taste is like drinking a smoked ham with cigar smoke playing with you. intresting as expected. bierkoning (4636), La Tropica, Netherlands Oct 7, 2005 Purple brown color. Earthy (IMO not smoky) aroma with nutmeg, pepper and a hint of raspberry. Earthy, dusty flavor. Spicy and hoppy. Bitter almonds aftertaste. Not without quality, but certainly not my taste. jbrus (4056), Delft, Netherlands Sep 25, 2005 Bottled. Aroma of almost pure smoke with a light sourness in the background. Cloudy, beige irregular head, good lace. Sweet, smoke, light bitter, some varnish, little sticky. Although not as complex as most rauchbieren from Bamberg still a nice example of the style. Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands Sep 14, 2005 pretty dark beer with lots of floaties and a huge deminishing head. aroma: smoky, malty and fruity. taste: very smoky, bit fruity, yeasty, caramel and a bit malty. finishes bitter and also fruity. medium bit sticky mouthfeel, lots of CO2. EToH is well hidden. nice, good beer. sayravai (3000), Helsinki, Finland Jun 30, 2005 (Bottled) Muddy brown color with a large, mostly fading head. Strongly ham-smoky and tarry aroma with caramely malt. Smoothly malty, tar, menthol and smoked ham flavor. Hides the ABV well. Medium-bodied, smoothly carbonated palate. Interesting and quite pleasant, although the tar and smoke pretty much cover everything else.
