COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer is to be produced in 350L every year. Oak chips have been put in 40 year old cognac and then added to the beer.

Special brew made for Jens Ungstrups 40 year old birthday. Name is still provisional, other options were: Fourty, Fat and Finished (suggested by "friends" of Jens) - Fourty, Fit and Firery (Jensí own version).

Thanks Patrik! Hazy dark amber. Crazy aroma - lots of wood, complex cognac that is deeply vinous, sultanas...gorgeous. Very sweet, syrupy, but very soft. Sultana palate with almost rummy cognac notes. Itís a little bit stiff in the finish, but remains soft, balanced and complex. Rich brown sugars - might be the most complex of the superheavyweight sipping beers. Indeed, this category has come a long way since SA Triple Bock - we are seeing real creativity and quality these days. Fantastic stuff.

Bottle thanks to oh6gdx (Patrik) for sharing! Flat, deep amber. Heavy, hot aroma is grape brandy to the max and hurts the brain to inhale. I take that as a warning that the beer is strong. Flat, thick, oily, viscous and nice palate. The fruit is intense and hot with a panoply of sweet strawberry and vanilla. Lots of different fruits then boom, big vanilla. Finishes clean. Tiramisu beer.

2009-05-16, draught at KÝbenhavnske ōldage 2009, 7-4-9-4-16=40
Cloudy amber color, no head. Syrupy aroma, light cognac, malt. Strong body, strong candy-like sweetness, very malty, with the nice cognac touch (not quite like vanilla). Round; complete. I love these sweet Barley Wines; great!

Handbottle, 10 days later, 7-4-10-4-18=43
Hazy dark amber color, almost flat. The aroma is not so strong, it has caramel and fudge. Good body strength, bold but not too thick, a bit syrupy, clearly sweet; there is flavor of plums, raisins, toffee and fudge; giant! lovely! Correct bitterness (meaning: strong), warming but well hiding the alcohol and well balanced, with an intense fudge final.
Surely a different one, great malts.

Bottle at the RBSG tasting, thanks to Ungstrup I think. Copper with a smallish head. Sweet oak and brandy aroma with caramel and dried fruit. The flavor is sweet and oaky with the cognac showing as well. Very syrupy and full bodied. Nice aroma, but the flavor became a little too over the top sweet for me, and the body was just a tad too sticky. I had no idea this was this strong though and have to cut it some slack is the sweet/sticky department.

Bottle from De Bierkoning. Pours almost without any head and a deep red copper colour. Wonderful vanilla oak and raisins aroma. Sweet flavours, some raisins, marcipane, nuts, slightly drier towards the finish. Like a great vintage port. Sirupy and full-bodied. Just loving it.

Bottled (from ÷lkonsortiet, Aalborg). Amber colour, not much head. ARoma is wood, alcohol and malts. Some spices become present as well. Flavour is wood, alcohol, spices, malts and also some underlying smoked notes. Nice stuff.

A Mes rate: bottle at Pre ZBF.
Semi hazy amber with a head that vanished in seconds. The cognac is totally clear but far from being over powering but there are also notes of calvados and sherry. Itís another of those De Molen desert barley wines. Not quite so incredible as the Bombs and Grenades but still mighty tasty. Lots of sugar and toffee and maybe just verging on cloying. Plenty of alcohol showing but not in a bad way, more in a waheeeeyyyyy this is going to get me spangled way. Massive fruity finish that lasts for a week. Possibly just a little too sweet and lacking a bit of bitterness for balance. Still, mad, bad and great fun. Kinda like Jens really.

yngwie (14146) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUL 6, 2009
On tap at Copenhagen Beerfestival. It pours a flat, copper-colored almost clear body without any head. Sweetish, syrupy nose with a nice slightly resiny hop touch and alcohol. Sweetish, syrupy flavor too, some alcohol warmth, peaches, some pinecones and a little bitterness. Full-bodied, warming, almost sticky mouthfeel. Burning finish with sugar and some bitterness. A nice one, but a bit too heavy on the alcohol and sweetness. (090516)

Orange, amber colored brew. Aroma is malty, ripe fruits, cognac. The flavor is very sweet and thick. Apricot, ripe fruits, cognac, alcohol. Almost an after diner liqueur. I think this is not at itís full potential now. Re-rate later.

Skinnyviking (7235) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUN 24, 2009
Bottle. Very low and quickly disappearing white fluffy head. Hazy dark red body. Caramel rye vineous aroma. Very sweet caramel black berries honey oak cognac flavor. Low carbonation. Long sweet aftertaste. Be careful out there. No sign of the high alcohol percentage. Very well hidden by the sweetness of the beer.
