The beer is to be produced in 350L every year. Oak chips have been put in 40 year old cognac and then added to the beer.

Special brew made for Jens Ungstrups 40 year old birthday. Name is still provisional, other options were: Fourty, Fat and Finished (suggested by "friends" of Jens) - Fourty, Fit and Firery (Jens’ own version).

( 750ml bottle, courtesy of Ungstrup ) Well another beer named after…the man, the myth, the beer legend. Pours an amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, vinous, brandy, oak, and vanilla. Flavor of vinous, caramel, green raisins, dried apricot, and some light spices. Happy 40th, Jens!

Slender foaming barley. Sweet aroma. The taste is explosive of sweet caramel, port wine, grapes, plums and a woody taste. It is a sweet barley with clear hints of fruit, heavy alcohol and malt. Soft, round and long finish where sweetness is highlighted. An exquisite beer that despite the sweetness, exudes quality and class.

Bottle shared @ De Molen. Nice red color, virtually no head. Aroma is malts, sweetness, raisins and alcohol. Tastes about the same: malts, raisins, sweetness, some alcohol. Average to medium body, a bit sticky texture, low carbonation.

bottle, supplied by the generous tall and bald one himself, opened in 2014. reddish amber with traces of sediment and thin head; aroma of stonefruits, trail mix, strawberry jam; plenty of jam and marmalade flavours, red berries, mellow alcohol, light vinous character suggested by the oak. held up pretty well

Bottle split at Bruce’s, big thanks to Leighton for digging this one up, 08/04/14. Lightly hazed amber with a moderate off white covering/edgeing. Nose is tarte fruit, spice, bitter citric rind, orange peel, caramel, dates. Taste comprises dark fruit rind, prunes, stoned fruits, Xmas cake, spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, drying booze charged finale. Solid barley wine, plenty of depth and flavour and drinks fairly easily considering the ABV!

Leighton (14705) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 8, 2014
Bottle shared in London - huge thanks to Anders for this one. Pours lightly hazy, golden-brown with a foamy, off-white head. The nose has rich bread, some toffee, golden raisins, hints of butter. Big sweet flavor with heavy golden raisins, dates, rich pale bread, white sugar, stewed apples. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Rich, lightly warming finish, tons of sugary bread, moderate fruits, more golden raisins, pale toffee. Delicious. Extremely decadent and hefty but really damn tasty.

Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours darkest-amber brown with a small beige head. The nose is earthy, malty, brown bread, toast, dirty, caramel, toffee and honeycomb. The taste is toffee, brown sugar, honey, candied citrus peel, nectarine, wood, oily and earth with a dry, warming finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not bad.
