A pitch black colored beer, ith a thick foamy beige head. The aroma of dark malts, with chocolate, wood. The taste of dark malt, chocolate, wood, whisky and alcohol notes. The aftertaste is bitter sweet, whisky and alcohol.

Draught (Ölrepubliken, Göteborg) - Back in colour. Roasted aroma with notes of roasted malt, liquorice and whisky. Roasted taste with coffee, liquorice and whisky detected.

On tap at Bierfestival groningen, the barrel aged version. Dark brown to black, smooth, bitter, warming, with alcohol showing up, maybe from the barrels. Oak, wood, nuts, coffee. very good.

On tap at bierfestival groningen. Geruch Holzfaß, Eiche, tief dunkelmalzig, röstig. Schokoladiger Start, dicht. Mitte alkoholisch-malzig, röstig, Kaffee, schokoladig-bitter. Abgang bitter, schokoladig, cognacartig, alkoholisch-wärmend. Super.

Black color, brown head. Roasted, sweet, alcohol taste. Roasted aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Sweet, malty, alcohol scent.

On tap @ Ölrepubliken. Dark brown with a small brown head. Fruity and malty tones. Fruit, malt, coffee and hops. Full body with a nice bitter sweet finish.

Tap at de Molen, 03/02/2013. This was apparently aged first in whiskey barrels for a year, then Bordeaux for another, and aged a little further at the brewery. Black pour, small tan head half covering the surface, soapy lacing. Aroma is rich milk chocolate vanilla pudding, soft caramel and bourbon, subtle hint of wine, but barrel elements take backseat to the choclate goodness. Taste is chocolate, light licorice, classic de Molen roast notes, light smoke and booze, maybe a bit of whiskey in the finish. Thick, smooth, and drinkable. Great brew- balanced, subtle barrel notes, delicious. Jeffo also gave two thumbs up.
