> A savory, well integrated smoked H&V derivative with no formaldehyde and no sugary sweetness

[ Bottle ][ Etre Gourmet ][ 33cl ][ $20 ][ Southampton RIS Snifter ][ 3/17/14 ]
>> Pours clear sepia, low carbonation, a god blessed head forms with some high pouring and coaxing. Spotty yellow lacing. Nose is sweet prosciutto, rich smoked meat, salt cured ham, lemon pepper steak. Taste up front is warming, nicely bitter, smoked ancho chilies, seasoned flank steak, savory smoked pate. Oh man this one is good...finally after about 5 flops from De Molen and a $100 wasted, this one delivers.

>!< Could be more bitter, palate finishes a tad chalky...don’t pour in any sediment

Bottled from de Molen shop, Bodegraven. Opaque black, small brown head. Powerful nose, malts, coffee, licorice, raisins, leather, some smoke. Very thick mouthfeel, roasted malts, sweetness with quite some bitterness, caramel, somewhat dry in finish. Aroma is better than flavor, but overall still a very good beer.

Bottle shared at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Black with a bit of light brown foam. Aroma is sourish with dark fruits, smoke, oak, some chocolate, vanilla and a bit of coconut. Sweet flavor, slightly sourish, with chocolate, dark fruits, oak, vanilla and a slightly smoky finish. Full-bodied. Great stuff.

Pours black with minimum head. Aroma is dominated by red berries and oak. Great mouthfeel. Tingling sweet taste, a little smokiness and a bit boozy finish. Great beer from my favorite brewery!

33cl bottle. It pours a deep brown almost black body with a minuscule brown head thy dissipates quickly. Aroma is sweet upfront with red berries licorice coffe, port wine, vanilla. Then some woody smokiness comes through nicely. Taste is similarly well balanced between the bourbon sweet notes and ashy smokey notes. Mouthfeel is bold with good carboantion. Overall, one of the way smoked stouts I’ve head.
