fonefan (29425) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JUN 1, 2012

Draught @ [ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012 ] @ Spartas Lokaler, Faelledparken in Osterbro, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Clear dark black brown colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, smoke - speyside, bordeaux - red wine notes. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Again a very lovely and balanced beer made by Menno and the Crew at De Molen. ;O) [20120512]

On tap at HaandFestival 2012. A very good looking beer, black in color and with a dark tan head of moderate size. The aroma is on the roasted side, with chocolate, coffee, some alcohol hints, dried fruits like figs and prunes, and a vanilla-ish, bourbon-like scent. Yummi! The flavor is in the same league, sweet and roasted, with coffee and chocolate, a nice but subtle bitterness, some resin and dried fruits. It’s full-bodied, warming and soft on the palate, with a lasting finish. Certainly one of the best beers at the festival, wish I could have more of this. 120504

Tap @ CBC, 2012.
[Best beer of the festival!]
Utterly opaque black with a lovely, staying, creamy, beige head. Aroma has red wine, oak, chocolate, cocoa, cognac, sherry, mild coffee, fairly sweet. Lowish carbonation, lovely dry and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is simply amazingly balanced. Oak, red wine, coffee, chcoalte, whiskey smoky notes are subdued. Quite sweet but with good malty and oaky dryness to balance it. Sherry-like caramel notes, light vinious, a bit of grape. Fabulously blended. A finishing apple zestiness makes it just sooooo drinkable. Thanks Menno!

On tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration.
Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Palate is softish and dry. Rich dark malt, bitter toffee. The smoke is very mild. A little faint red wine underneath the dark malts providing red berry fruits. Not getting any speyside. Warming dry finish.
