I’m going to go crazy and give this a 5 on appearance, just because I’m pretty sure they overcarbonate this purposely and I think it’s hilarious. So you’ve got the cascade and columbus giving us that dependable grapefruit/rose aroma and together with the spiciness of the yeast and super-carbonation this was just a fun drink. Well balanced? I’m not sure what that means for this style. Just really out there. Wish it came in (cheap) six packs.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Reimer96 (620) - Alberta, CANADA - DEC 3, 2012
Pours a hazy orange with a big white head that dissipates to a nice white top that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is Mandarin orange and citrus with some pale malt. Taste is mandarin orange up front that transitions into a pale malt with a nice smooth bitterness that tingles the tongue.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Benfi (307) - DENMARK - SEP 20, 2012
Bottled. Pours hazy and pale amber with a huge, creamy off-white head. Nose of citrus fruits and caramel. Sweet flavor with grapefruit, lemon orange peel and at bit of pine, caramel and spicy notes. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbontion. Solid bitter finish. A well made IPA from de Molen.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 worldbeertaste (1133) - Lancashire, ENGLAND - MAY 15, 2013
Medium orange with a thick, frothy, off-white, lasting, nice lacy head. Fresh and fruity smell of citrus hops, pine, grapefruit with a soft caramel malt base. Medium oily body with soft carbonation. Smooth sweet malty toffee taste with a tropical fruity middle and a bitter lasting, hoppy dry finish. A soft and zesty IPA. Smooth and easy to drink.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ElDesmadre (999) - Mikołów, POLAND - NOV 5, 2012
Bottle. Light hazy orange with a very big, De Molen trademark head. Aroma is a biscuity malty base, covered with hops, not only US-hops. Elderflower, citrus, lychee, some mango and some freshly cut grass. Taste is like an IPA with a pilsner-style bitterness, thanks to the Czech bittering hops. Moderately full body, US-hops tropical fruit flavour, high, velvety carbonation. As the bitterness is Czech-style, it is rather grassy, though some grapefruit notes also shine through. Add some spicy yeast, and you get a bottom fermented IPA (!) that is defiant of all regular styles. And really tasty.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 fiulijn (12360) - Malmö, DENMARK - MAY 31, 2012
Courtesy of Jan (fonefan), bottled 2012-02-23 (1 month ago) Cloudy golden color, with small head. Very nice hop aroma, that is both fruity and grassy, with a touch of piney hop resins, bitter oranges. Very good toffee flavor, soft mouthfeel, low carbonation, very moderate residual sweetness; there is a lot of hops that carry a nice blend of fruit and resin. Long and strong final, but a bit astringent. Very good.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 presario (4406) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 6, 2012
Bottle. Lots of floaties and sediment in bottle so pored carefully and rating from clean dark hazy amber sample. Nice white foam. Aroma has hops, a bit of soap and something intriguing I can’t place. Nice hoppiness without being extreme for a hop lover but still strong and supported by a nice caramel maltiness. A hint of chemical in the finish, could be just the hops. Finding thier beers a bit hit and miss in Canada; probably fun to sample locally.
