First-ever sour ale, so pardon my amateur observations. Bottle; pours a hazy hazelnut brown with virtually no head. Aromas of apple cider, some rotten fruit, a bit of dark, sweet malt. Taste is predominantly sour (apple cider), with some bitter hop and sweeter malt notes towards the end. Lasting sour aftertaste, medium carbonation. Well-rounded.

Bottle (330 ml). Bottled on July 10th 2013. Slightly hazy dark amber/copper with no head and little lacing. Aroma is of sour berries, cherries, green apples, light caramel, wood and acetic notes. Taste is moderately sour with berries, wood, light caramel, green apples and light sweetness (fruit jam). Medium body. Low carbonation. Woodsy finish. Not a bad Sour Brown. Quite fruity. Not too acetic. A little more carbonation would help. Tasty.

Bottle from Utobeer. Fantastic sour here. Thin but fizzy pour, no head. Goes flat pretty quick. Ruby red. Massive funky sharp aroma, some wine. Little cherry. Taste is lip-puckering sour, sharp sharp red fruits, funk, vinous notes. Palate is zingy with dryness and a little sweetness.

Hazy unattractive amber, no head. Nose is wood, cherries, some acetic but well balanced by the malt. Flavor is cherries/strawberries, bright prickly acidity, wood, nice rich malt.

Lonick (781) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 10, 2014
Bottle @brew night with jeevan & allmyvinyl. Huge murky brew (looks like Thames river water 40 years ago) with a big sour nose which is lovely. Tart and sour, vinegar to the fore. I’d leave this for another couple of years before opening another bottle, i think this is a little young right now.

Deep ruddy brown pour. Aroma is barnyard and sour fruit. Flavor is quite tart and acidic, but well balanced. Not too intense but very tasty.

750 ml bottle courtesy of Lonick. Pours a murky, muddy brown. No head. High carb though. Aromas are vinegar, sherbet, damp, light lemon sweeties. Taste has jammy sweetness, big sour plum notes, roasted qualities at the back end. Weird, comes together pretty well. But not a looker.

Bottle. This was my first ever sour beer so did not really know what to expect. Pours a dark ruby brown with absolutely no head at all. Aroma is predominantly vinegar. Taste was a shock, very acidic and sour indeed. Hints of red fruits. Sticky. Did enjoy the taste ultimately but I personally very much dislike the vinegar smell.

Scopey (6140) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 16, 2014
Bottle from Utobeer. It pours deep red with a small off-white head. The nose is earthy, damp wood, dirt, tart berries, jammy fruits, tang and a touch of manure. The is tart, fruity, red berry, vinous, sherbet, light jam, moderate acidity, earth and Granny Smith apple with a dry, tart finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Very nice sweet-sour balance. One De Molen’s best sours.
