Hazy dark amber with a minimal off-white head. Aroma is sweet malty caramell, light toffe, light but sharp hops and a chemical almost acetone like note. Flavour is about the same but even sweeter with a dry rather bitter finish. Mouthfeel was a bit too still with too low carbonation. Rather odd beer, like a slightly thin and rather hoppy barleywine.

Well, until anything hits me like this did, this is my favourite beer. I have to try this again if I’m ever lucky enough to find another. In fact, this will force me to visit De Molen. Also, in my defence, I was very drunk when I had this. At The Summer Beer Festival in Rome on our MesandSim’s stag do. Legendary hosting from Alex at 4:20, top crowd of lads, fit singer in the band, great beer. I think I was drinking this when I did my Mr. Lif routine. I feel no shame whatsoever. I love this beer. Loving those amarillo hops but there is so much in here. Every sip was a journey it’s complex. Instant tummy banana material. My notes just ramble on about sex but I will never forget how good this tasted. Fucking awesome. This is why I love beer.

Draught at Bishop’s Arms, Malmö
Cloudy dark brown color, with a generous and creamy head, persistent. What surprises the most is the bitter oranges aroma, with a hint of caramel and tobacco. Strong body; strong caramel flavor and quite good chocolate too, with medium sweetness; light woody vanilla; there is some more darker caramel in the end; but the fruity edge is present again, and it doesn’t blend well with the rest. For being a sweet - strong - hopped - malty beer, it’s pleasant to drink, but it’s also chaotic; it’s difficult to find a purpose.

Bottle in Rome during The Stag Do. Has a hoppy nose with some roast. Moss and pine. Pretty sweet, strong flavor, dark roast malts, booze, sugar, faint cocoa. Full bodied with average carbonation. Warm finish, boozy, malty sugars, some lingering sticky hops. Great beer, pretty dynamic.

Super!Test vom 1.7.2010, Gebinde: Glasflasche

Koelschtrinker (7060) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 29, 2011
12/11/11/13//11

Bottle. [thank you skortila/caesar]
Pours dark, light muddy red-brown with a big, fairly frothy, beige head. Aroma has mild roasted notes, fine grassy, fresh hoppiness. Mild viniousness and a bit of red berries astringency. High carbonation, kinda light and fairly creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has big grassy hops, kinda grainy malts, high viniousness. The roasted malts peep through and the oak is very apparent, lending the brew a touch of vanilla sweetness and a mild oaky tartness. There are lots of flavours in here, but not all of them work together that much. But it’s still not bad.
