Bottle from Erzbierschof - Hazy brown color with a frothy beige head, long lasting and good lacing - Aroma is malty, grainy, toffee, caramel, biscuits, fruity, dried prune, raisin, very complex aroma - Flavor is grainy, buscuits, red fruits and earthy bitterness - Medium body, fizzy carbonation, medium/high bitterness, dry, long dry bitter earthy finish - interesting and well done, you have a beer a nose and another in the mouth, what you can expect in nose is really different in mouth

Bottle, 33cl. Very intense copper colour and thin but quite stable foam head. Lots of coloidal yeasts but that does not disturb the whole appearance to me at all. Aroma of fresh earthy hops and toffee, not as intense as it could be and in my opinion, not very interesting. The taste built of bittereness at medium level just fine for the English Aleand well balanced with maltym toffee-like sweteness. Undetectable alcohol, and a bit yeasty dryness on the palate in the aftertaste. Quite thin body and I would rather have it more oily/slicky. Very drinkable. Overall, a very good English styled Ale.

Bottle from Menno - thx. Beautiful amber with a nice off white head. Spicy aroma with notes of cloves, apricot and marcipan. Flavour has an initial caramel and fruit sweetness which is quickly substituted by a solid, dry bitterness that comes wrapped in an alcoholic full body. This beer delivers on multiple levels, but doesn’t exceed it’s own limitations within the style. I could drink this often, but the aroma would probably keep me from it, as cloves remind me of some bad experiences with Becherovka.

A little hazy, dark amber colored beer, with a light beige foamy head. The aroma of fruits, malts and a little bitter. The taste of hop bitter, fruits with caramel and notes of spices. The aftertaste is bitter with some sweet.

0.33l bottle. What a head! Probably the biggest head I’ve ever seen on a beer. It also has a near murky dark nutty-red-brownish body, but the gigantic, everlasting and fluffy beige head really made my day! The aroma is filled with balsamic and dark wood-tones mixed with some sweet caramel wrapped in Belgian yeast. Not horrible at all. After waiting some minutes the head has come down to a reasonable level and it’s possible to have a sip. Lively carbonation, medium-bodied with a light oily mouthfeel. Flavors are quite weird with lots of leather and licorice. Not the normal kind of licorice but more like sipping on the licorice-root itself. Lots of wood blended with something tart and yeasty. Bitter and herbal finish with hints of cocoa in the aftertaste. Weird stuff, but I kinda liked it.

Aroma of sweet fruit preserve and a huge white uneven head. True to its style with the bitterness of an IPA. Nice sweet aftertaste that stays forever. Bottle from Ton Overmars in Amsterdam.

mile (3131) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JAN 12, 2012
Bottle. Dark brown, hazy, average and mostly lasting head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, some caramel with light fruitiness, some citrus - grassy hoppyness, light alcohol. Body is medium, malty and sweetish flavor, light caramel and fruitiness, some grassy hoppyness, light alcohol. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, light caramel, some grassy hoppyness, some alcohol. Lightly sweetish strong ale with nice grassy hoppyness - bit too much alcohol in the finish.
