(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 1 Aug 2009) Cloudy reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with dried fruit and spices. Slightly vinous. Malty taste with notes of dried fruit, caramel and citrus. Full body, rather sweet. Good balance with alcohol well hidden. Very nice and tasty.

On tap at ’t Arendsnest. Hazy amber orange colour, creamy off white head. Aroma of sugar, alcohol, a bit of grassy vegetable notes. Flavour is alcohol, sugar, rather crude, bitter alcoholic and hoppy finish. Bitter oranges. It’s a bit of a malt liquor with hops. Medium bodied. This is the first Molen beer I don’t really like. It can’t always be a hit...

Draught @ Brouwerij de Molen, Overtocht 43, Bodegraven, 2411 BT Netherlands.
Unclear medium orange color with a large, frothy to creamy, good - excellent lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, molasses, caramel, moderate hoppy, grass, orange. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, and a dry finish. Very easy to drink ;o). Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090226]

A hazy reddish amber a le with a thick off white head. Aroma is fruity esters, peaches, vanilla gin, and warning alcohol. In mouth, a very well balanced mix of candy sugar, alcohol, orange peels, very Belgian...I would never call this an old ale, yet this is a very good beer. Bottle from Dutch trip, Nov. 2006, BB 15-07-07

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of over ripe fruits, and milk. The flavor is acidic malty with notes of peaches and lighter notes of alcohol and brettanomyces, leading to a dry spicy and slightly woody finish.

From bottle at Arendsnest. Dark copper with an off-white head. Spicy, tart fruit aroma, combining with caramel. Malt flavours, hint of light roast, fruit and earthy hops. Full-bodied. Another hit from de Molen.

Amber, orange colored brew. Spicy aroma. Flavor is spicy too, some fruits, sweetness and some modest floral hopbitterness. Enjoyable.

Bottled, BB 9/14/2009. Poured clear coppery-golden with some rising carbonation and a nice creamy cap of beige head. The aroma picked up strong toasted caramel and toffee, showing off more than enough alcohol.. spicy peppery notes singe the nostrils, and a drier honey came through on the back. The flavor was along those same lines with rich, vodka-laced caramel and honey at the core and peppery spices plus floral bitterness at the edges.. hot, grainier finish. Medium-bodied with higher carbonation on the palate.. hot, malt likka-like finish.. not what I expected.
