4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at The Trappist. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head and a smoky chocolate aroma. There is a thick sweet toffee flavor with some plum and a syrupy finish. The alcohol is noticeable, but in a pleasant way.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, malt, caramel, and spices. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, malt, cognac, caramel, and a bit of wood, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. Thanks pinball for sharing.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle 18 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a hazy amber with no head. Very sweet nose, caramel and overripe fruit - not so much Cognac in the nose. Very solid body, completely flat though. Sweet caramel and honey, vanilla and an oxidized touch. The barrel comes through a little here. Very warming alcohol in the finish. Delicious indeed but perhaps also a little sticky. 230311

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Slight fizz as the cap opens. Pour is just a thick oily liquid. No head is formed at all. Murky red brown. Very complex oaky and boozy aroma. Lots of cognac notes (naturally), deep toasted caramel, light marzipan, alcohol, raisins, plums. Very low carbonation, extremely oily palate. Flavour is more elegant than I feared. Sweet yes, but with enough alcohol and oaky dryness to (almost) balance it. Alcoholic yes, but with a good malty base to secure it’s not overpowering. Caramel, prunes, raisins, marzipan, oak. A very nice sipper, but it is still very sweet and perhaps it could have been done with less alcohol. Both of which detract from an otherwise wonderful experience.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle 302/624, courtesy of RasmusOtt. Pours amber red with no head. Aroma has toffey, caramel, vanilla, dates, berries, strawberries, biscuity malts, port notes, dry fruity cognac notes, honey, dark syrup, melasses. Taste is sweet caramel and toffey, lots of residual sugar, some alcohol, dates, sweet raisins, honey, slight hop bitterness along with a hint of alcohol. The alcohol is extremely well hidden, I’d reckon this beer to be 11-12% had I not known better. 2-27-11
