ACBF 2012. Una de les joies del festival. Espectacular. Cremosa, aromàtica, equilibrada. Genial!

For my #100 rating. One of the most extreme Barley Wine ever tasted. Complex, alcoholic, amazing. Fantastic!

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2012 2010 Vintage bottle@Kulminator: dark red/amber colour with virtually no head that quickly vanishes, very little smell, taste very sweet with lots of Sirop de Liège & brown sugar, cognac jam (patent pending), syrup, sweet malt, caramel, cognac-soaked raisins, almost liquor-like, warming but no alcohol taste, light, flat, amazing stuff, bottle nr. 378 /// draft @ ACBF 2012 / 2012 version: still same syrupy, sticky, messy goodness, love it

Corpo medio, carbonazione soft. Pericolosamente alcolica. Barley Wine straordinario. Bevuto fresco alla spina, chissà invecchiato...

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2011 On draught @Ma che siete venuti a fà (Rome). Dark amber & red appearance, no foam. Aroma has clear notes of cognac and wood. The taste is sweet with some notes o dried fruits. The alcohol is evident. Full body. Amazing barleywine!

UPDATED: FEB 19, 2012 Brown with a red glow, small head. Lacing is great. Madeira, tutti fruity. Just barely expressive enough. But wow, what a perfect sweet, powerful, rich, interesting, lasting and impressive taste. Mind you, not to try this as first beer of the night. But as a closer it is amazing. To be enjoyed as a great whisky or cognac. (At De Molen tasting) (Rating re-indexed)

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2010 On tap at Monk’s Porter House, Stockholm:
Pours a dark amber colour with a steady head. Sweet, malty caramel aroma with notes of raisins. Flavour is sweet and has notes of malt, sherry and raisins. Tastes a lot like Thomas Hardy’s Ale.

UPDATED: MAR 12, 2011 24th September 2010. Borefts Beer Festival.
Clear red amber beer, no head. Light soft palate. Sweet malt with subtle port flavours with lovely sweet cognac. A little lactose sweetness in the undertone. Very well hidden 17.0%. Some strawberry sweetness before a dry finish. Immensely drinkable and I spent a good part of the second day with 8 glasses of this treat. It stood up to and was better than every other beer at the festival (and there were many great ones) with the exception of the Kaggen. Absoloutely delicious.

8th and 10th March 2011
Draft at Arends Nest. This great beer has developed further. Amber beer, clear. Zero head. A light touch of apple on the nose. This tastes like a quality sweet dessert wine that has a drop of cognac added. Lovely! On the 10th had a couple of glasses where it came across as more sherryish with sweet woody cognac. My work mates and many others - including the bartender - could not accept this as a beer. Shame for them - I think it’s a classic beer.

Bottle number 10, vintage 2010. Clear reddish with no head. Aroma of cognac, sherry, wood and toffee. Big body on this one, notes of alcohol but in a plesant way. Very smooth to drink despite 17,4%. How lucky that I have a bottle left. What a wonderful beer!

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2011 Tap at 2nd BBF @ De Molen. Very sweet and alcoholic, something I would normally avoid. But this is quite good. I still think it’s quite alcoholic, but very delicate and balanced. But you can hardly call this beer. Cognac, port, sugar and alcohol. Careful with this brew. (3.4) Re-rate dec ’12. Tap at the first monthly beer tasting @ De Molen hosted by dEnk. 2 years old. Improved so amazingly. Aroma is a bit alcoholic, raisins, sugars, dark fruits, cognac, fruity, bourbon, vanilla. Flavor is amazingly complex, very well balanced and greatly improved with age. Incredible brew.
