Bottle. Pours caramel. No head. Nose/taste of sweet malt, wood, cognac barrel, caramel, candy syrup and dark fruits. Lots of caramel and sweet dark fruits on the palate. Alcohol well hidden. Medium body.

Intensiv cremiger, daneben leider zuckriger Beginn. Auch im Verlauf zu süß, Aromen gehen darin unter, der Alkohol ist zwar nicht direkt erkennbar, spiegelt sich aber in der Süße wieder. 11/5/6/8//6

(draught) pours a hazy ruby-orange colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of vanilla, heavy straciatella and caramel, brown sugar, treebark, cherries, slightly oxidised with a hint of alcohol and herbal hops. flavour is milk chocolate, straciatella and oranges, heavy mouth-coating alcohol, though not boozy, with lots of sweetness. heavy-bodied with soft carbonation.

24/12/2010 Ma che siete venuti a fà (tap). Bevuta al Macche con Pippi. Ambrata scura, intensa, con riflessi rubino, schiuma praticamente assente. Intensissimo aroma, fruttato, caramellato, con forti note di cognac e alcool. In bocca ha un sapore dolciastro, forte e aggressivo, con note di ciliegia, more, lamponi, frutta secca e legno, con finale secco. Corpo medio, carbonazione soft. Pericolosamente alcolica. Barley Wine straordinario. Bevuto fresco alla spina, chissà invecchiato...

On tap at the Farmer’s Cabinet De Molen dinner served with a dessert of Preserved Cherry Tart & Malt Ice Cream. Beautiful crimson orange brown with no head. Nose is honey, red licorice, wood, vanilla and slight alcohol. Sticky medium to full body, slick on the palate with trace carb. Taste is caramel, vanilla, cherry, raisin, cognac, dark honey and baked apple. Just incredible. Maybe the best barleywine i’ve tried.

On tap @ De Molen 13/12/2011 (taken from notes): pours clear, deep amber with beige, rapidly disappearing head - Nose of cherries and dark fruit, raisings. Taste is very sweet; malty, raisins, some port. Alcohol is only at the finish.

Very powerfull, sweet, some licorice, mint. Full body, good carbo for a barley wine.
