4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
What a powerful drink! Very dark with dense brown, creamy long lasting head. A fireworks of chocolaty, coffee, porto-like aromas, oily palate with little and smooth carbonation. Alcohol is perfectly masked by the sweetness of residual sugars. If all of this would be still not enough, add to it typical belgian yeasty aromas.
This is a demanding, time consuming slow sipper. I’m going to buy few of these and put it into my cellar for aging.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma: The smell is sweet and herbal, reminds me of an liqueur, but also figs, toast, and coffee beans.
Appearance: The brew is foggy dark brown, a tan high head with good lacing.
Taste: Tasting sweet, fig marmalade, sherry, dark chocolate and herbs.
Palate: Little carbonation, smooth and oily, a big body, a warm feeling.
Overall: Very nice with cheese after dinner. To me this is more like a Belgian Strong Dark Ale.

Pours dark, cloudy brown with no head. Smells of caramel, malts, chocolate, and alcohol. Tastes of chocolate, malts, caramel, salty, and alcohol. Has no carbonation really, very flat and undesirable on the tongue.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A wonderfully balanced strong Belgian. Aromas of cocoa, stewed fruit and booze. To drink it’s sweet up front, finishing dry and super roasty.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Love this brew. A cut above a lot of the de Molens I’ve had recently. Aroma of roast peat malt common with these guys combined with dark cherry chocolate, some caramelized sweetness. Musky finish that comes off bittersweet. Not like other Belgian strongs if that’s what it is. Pours black with great mocha head and lacing. Bottle at only cafe.

Aroma is caramel, strong nutty notes and a hint of fruit. The flavor is malts, caramel, sugar, fruit and a mix of tart and alcohol in the finish.
