Dark brown bear with a creme head. Positoned as a strong Belgian ale, but with direction to a strong Stout. Taste and smell of roasted malt, chocolate, dry red fruit, smoke, bitter coffee. Very thick and smooth. An excellent enjoy beer!

0.75l, bottled 23 january 2013. Cork releases with a nearly unnoticeable plop, probably lost some carbonation. Pours a dark amber-brown color with a think tan layer of foam. Aroma is dark malty, candied fruits, prunes and raisins, some tobacco, some spicy yeasts, some roasted malts and coffee. Taste is surprisingly fresh-fruity with berries at first, but then a good maltiness comes through, also toffee and figs, butterscotch, some chocolate. Could be an American Strong. A bit oxidized but in a good way. Nearly flat. Quite a viscous mouthfeel. Pleasant stuff, aged gracefully.

Bottle at Spuyt in Amsterdam. Loose, light beige, irregular head over a very dark burgundy, near blackish beer. Aroma of fondant chocolate bars, cocoa, blackberry, dates, dried banana, caramelized sugar, mocha ice cream, soy sauce, fig. Candied sweetness in onset, rich with an oily, fluffy texture, bit oily with soft carbo, accents of fig and date with a certain soy sauce umami flavour to it, thick caramelly and toasted malt bittersweetness, rich and satisfying with peppery hops in the finish for balance, a roasted bittering accent and whisky-like, warming alcohol. Very rich, deep beer like many of these strong Molens; in terms of style, this has certain Scotch- and even imperial stout-like aspects so definitely not your average strong dark Belgian.

Bottle received in the European swap, thanks to Benzai. Dark brown with a tiny beige head. Nose has caramel, cocoa, dark dried fruit, alcohol. Flavour has the same, some vanilla, wood and syrup too. Full body, sticky texture, soft carbonation. Pretty sweet, but carries the alcohol well. Soft, but also a bit too sticky for my taste. Still an ok warming sipper.

dark brown colour, minimal sized creamy beige head; aroma of dried cherry, chocolate, some liqueur and cheese notes; taste is dominated by malty-syrupy sweetness with chocolate, dried cherry, nuts and even some smoke (cheese) notes can also be felt; not a usual Belgian strong ale, but still very good

33cl bottle, served in a snifter glass. Pours pitch black like motor oil with a very nice looking brown two finger head that dissipated after a while. Fantastic aromas of initially chocolate and coffee that jump into your nostrils. Then there is lots of roasted malt, dark fruits, nuts. Taste is very much a continuation of the aroma, loads of chocolate, toffee, roasted malts and dark fruits. This is dilicious and at 10,2% ABV also dangerously drinkable. Huge thick body with a creamy, sticky, chocolaty finish that just never seems to end within your mouth. Tastes more like an imperial stout than a Belgian Strong Ale to me.

Zwart bier geen schuim uit een vrij recente fles. Bier is lekker dik en vol smaak. Licht bitter. Choco, caramel gebrande mouten, licht zoetje. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours mahogany with a rim of cream froth. Sweet, slightly perfumy aroma of caramel. The taste starts sweet with light spice, tabacco, red fruits. Leather and chocolate in the finish. Nice.
