Bottle, pours amber, aroma is very belgiany and just a lot of belgian yeast characteristics, the flavour is very similar to westy beers and overall this one was enjoyable and a good offering

Scopey (8250) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 19, 2012
Bottle at Leighton’s Beer, Bocce and Boozer tasting, thanks to tdtm82. It pours deep brown, with a thick light tan head. The nose is caramel, roasted malt, dark fruit, spice and toffee. The taste is caramel, toffee, dark fruit, roasted malt, alcohol warmth and spice, with a long dry finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Well balanced. Quite easy drinking, considering the ABV.

Leighton (13203) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 15, 2012
Bottle at the Beer, Bocce and Boozer tasting, London, thanks to Thomas. Pours brown with a creamy, tan head. Soft, dusty cocoa in the nose, some herbs and toast. Big sweet flavor, lots of dark sugar, light cocoa, some booze. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warm finish, sweet, with some cocoa and caramel and modest, earthy bitterness. Not bad at all.

Bottle (33cl) from Vinmonopolet (Vika), Oslo. Gusher. Huge, light beige head with good retention. Colour is dark reddish brown. Sweet, complex aroma of malt, molasses, syrup, chocolate, caramel, licorice, wood, alcohol - much like an imperial stout. Full body, soft carbonation. Mouthfeel is surprisingly light, considering the ABV. Very well-balanced taste, sweet with a woody dryness and a mild bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden. Long-lasting bittersweet aftertaste.

FaithHealer1 (358) - SCOTLAND - MAR 27, 2012
(Long awaited!) bottle at North Bar, Leeds (Lowlands Festival). Pours a deep brown, two fingers of bubbly light brown head, that quickly dies. Aroma is incredible - spicy Belgian esters, malt, a bit of hop spice, little bit of cappuccino. Taste is equally brilliant - Belgian ester, dried fruits, malt, touch of coffee grain, cinnamon, aniseed. Sweet front brilliantly balanced by a hoppy bitterness on the end. Slightly oily mouthfeel, great medium carbonation, pretty kbt, tasty balanced finish. Completely excellent.

Boutip (5025) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 20, 2012
Bottle: Poured a deep cloudy brown color ale with a nice medium size foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of sweet Belgian-style malt with notes of dry fruits and light candy notes. Taste is also a nice mix between some semi-sweet malt notes with some nice candy-like ester and some dry raisins and plums notes. Body is full with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very nice beer to enjoy by the fireside on a cold winter night.

ElDesmadre (2017) - Mikołów, POLAND - MAR 20, 2012
Bottle from Bierkoning, many thanks! Almost black with a huge, beautiful, frothy head. Now that looks fantastic! Complex aroma - on one hand there are rough elements like a sharp yeastiness and spices, on the other hand there are soft elements like apples and other ripe fruit. There is also a strong walnut presence and a quite prominent grassy hoppiness. The maltiness is caramelly with dark bread. High carbonation, intensive and sweet flavour balanced by a strong, quite sharp hop bitterness. Flavourwise it’s mainly caramel, walnut and ripe fruit, with some mineral earthiness and grassy hops in the aftertaste. In the beginning the beer comes over quite aggressive and devoid of subtlety, with time it gets a bit more soft. It’s highly aromatic and very bitter, with the alcohol being masterfully hidden. Very good!

Pours very dark brown with large tan head. Not much aroma but I thought of milk chocolate. Taste is equally odd with unplacable sweet dark fruits, followed by some bitter hoppiness and a touch of alcohol. Hard for me to describe but very nice nevertheless. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sampled from a 0.33 L bottle. Tall sand-colored head. Body is lively, near-clear deep brown. Burnt caramel, perfume, tin canned fruits and faint chocolate to the nose. Sweet-flavored. Caramel- and fruit-sweetness. Light roasty notes, and hint of wood and straw/grass. Balancing bitterness. Smooth and filling in the mouth. Spicy endnotes. A pretty nice and exciting one.
