Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass dark, almost black, nice head. Starts strong-malty, surprisingly sweet. Malty notes get more and more woody, still sweet. Finish a bit milder, less sweet, but warming. Interesting beer.

(Bottle) Pours dark compact brown with a large sized pale brown head. The aroma is fantastic – a mix between noble hops and Belgian yeast with notes of grass, herbs, fancy resin, dark bread, dark grain, dark fruits, esters, brown sugar, broth, soy, wet soil, liquorice root/syrupy roots, oranges juice, smoke, ripe apples, lingonberry jam, almond smelling glue/marzipan, light butter fudge and subtle vanilla fudge. The flavour is near medium sweet, near medium bitter and tiny citric. Fat malty, fruity, complex, fresh hoppy and light oxidized. The Aggressive noble hops blends well with the robust Belgo character. The mouthfeel is fat, round and light sticky with a light carbonation. Clear chocolate/cocoa roast, earth and noble hops on the finish. Medium bodied. Nice.

A frothy light beige head settles above the near blackness. The vigourous carbonation brought a slight gushing about. Phenolic and spicy nose offers gently medicinal clove and anise notes over a base very nutty maltiness that is round and in contrast with the strong effervescence. All along the ride, ripe fruitiness (minty raisin, dates) feels vinous when paired with the warming, sweetening constant alcohol kick. Underneath it all, the hops are more than casual, providing a balancing bitterness but limited spicy aromas. A deep and soul-warming dark ale in the De Molen rich mouthfeel fashion.

2010 bottle. Thanks bierkoning, a real treat! Dark red/brown, thick tan head fades with thick lacing. Nose is salty, varnish, wood, banana, dark honey. Cheap chocolate, but in a good way. Slightest hint of naughty booze. Big sweet caramel front, develops into something slightly more savoury, wood and spice. Finish is very slightly citric, spicy hops. Foamy mouthfeel. A big, challenging beer - this is no session ale! But amazing stuff.

Hazy brown color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, spices, vanilla, wood, and alcohol. Taste of caramel, roast, spices, Belgian yeast, nuts, and alcohol in the finish.

Més aviat sembla una Stout. Notes de cacau i cafè tant en nas com en boca. Bona escuma, bon carbònic. Alchol ben integrat. M’ha agradat molt.

33 cl bottle. Brewed on 23.05.2010. Bottled on 24.06.2010.
Pours deep dark red colour with large beige head. Aroma of dark malts, caramel, yeast, distant notes of berries and vegetables, some spices and earth notes. Flavour of yeast, slightly roasted malts, light fruits, dry chocolate and distant toffee. Palate is quite smooth with a mouth-drying effect. More like an imperial stout than a belgian strong. Very good nonetheless.

33 cl bottle @ home. Brewed 23.05.2010, bottled 24.06.2010, BBE 24.06.2015
Aroma is very close to an imperial stout. Roasted malt, coffee, some candi sugar and hints of berries. Also De Molen house aroma is present. Very smooth palate. Flavour has lots of roasted malt, some candi sugar, hints of coffee, salty licorice and smoke. Bitter finish. More imperial porter or stout than belgian strong. Some hints of belgian yeast and sourness are present though.
