Bottle. Thinner dark khaki head; murky dark reddish brown. Dark malts and plums in the aroma and lightly spicy with some nuttiness in the aroma and there is a sweet-savory quality to the smell. Rich plums that dry out over the palate, light roasted malt almost, with figs, alcohol, and a sweet dark fruit finish that’s not nearly overly sweet. I really like the balance on this, and just edges around the bready, plummy, sweet nature. Dry and malty bitter finish with a thinner to medium body and softer to medium carbonation. This is a night ender.

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2011 Bottled 33cl (brewed 05/2010)
Thanks bierkoning for this one. Dark brown color, steady creamy beige head. Nose is slightly hoppy with also some coffee beans, vegetables and fruity note.Full-bodied, liquerish palate. Roasted malty, but mainly sweetish with fruity Belgian yeast, licorice, light hops - more bitterness from alcohol, toffee/fudge, vanilla, vegetables. Lingering bitterness and alcohol in the aftertaste. Basicly this is a good brew, but there is some disturbing woody-vegetably flavors I don’t like. (7/4/7/3/13 3.4)
Another 330ml bottle from bierkoning. Bottled 06/2010 and now no trace from vegetables. Aged nicely, licorice now dominates and this is more imperial stout than belgian strong ale. Vanilla notes. Score slightly up from 3.4. (7/4/7/4/15 3.7)

Bottle. Pours dark brown with thick frothy brown head. Nose of figs, spruce tips, yeast, old wood and dark fruits. Taste is as expected. Lots of plum, fig and dark fruits up front with a spicy hop and earthy wood finish.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this 33cl bottle. Bottled 6-24-10. The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is very heavy on the caramel malt and roasted malt, along with some dark fruit mixed in. The beer has no hops in the aroma and smells very sweet. The flavor is heavy on the dark fruit, toffee, brown sugar, chocolate, molasses, roasted malt and some nuttyness. The alcohol is very well hidden for a beer that is more than 10 percent in alcohol. A very complex, very malty stout. Very drinkable considering the ABV. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A very nice Belgian-inspired Stout from De Molen.

(Bottle, 0.33l, at Pikkulintu) The beer poured very dark brown and hazy. Its head was brown and large. Aroma was metallic, musty and mildly malty. Palate was medium bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, hops, grass, roastedness, ash, mildly sweetness, hint of spiciness, Belgian style yest, The ashiness and roastedness point more toward imperial stout than Belgian strong ale. Not a bad brew anyway.

330 ml bottle in Germany. Pours a dark brown almost black color. Has a huge long lasting brown head. Aroma is brown sugar, malts and alcohol. Taste is of maple brwon sugar and black tar. Palate in contrary is light and spicy with a strong lingering alcohol. A bit too strong in flavor, alcohol and taste for my Bavarian Palate.
