My bottle [330ml] shared with garthicus & HogTownHarry -- c/o Glouglouburp. Dec. 13, 2011. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with an average size semi-lasting frothy tan head. Nice aroma of roasted dark malt, hops, alcohol, coffee and dark fruit. Flavour, also nice, of roasted malt, leafy hops, chocolate, dark fruit and a bitter finish. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Great stuff, this was a nice surprise.

Dark red ! Thin pale yellow foam head Nose: fruity, cereal, roasty, butter toast, chocolate. Great fruit, hint of welcomed hop flavours, aftertaste is subtle coffee and cereals. Full bodied but not sweet nor heavy, light finish then long taste in your mouth. What an EQUILIBRIUM ! De Molen creates beers, it’s an art, I just like it ! Cheers. This makes me re-consider Belgian Strong Ale style that I often categorized as Heavy

High carbonation, tan head. Complex beer. Lots of malt, strong bitterness, a little smoke, an edge of alcohol. Long bitter tail.

Pitch black with chunky yeast floating around and a reddish brown head. Bitter chocolate with pepper, cardamom and sourwood and a metallic alcohlic twang to it. Hoppy and fleshy with a sweet rottenness to it. The taste is bitter coffe moutiness. Chocolate and watery nutiness. very warm.

Bottled and bought from the little shop near Cloisters pub in Edinburgh ... a great local concentration of top beer. A touch frisky from the bottle, highly carbonated from bottle conditioning, it’s a deep black beer with a healthy creamy head. Once the head goes the fruity, hoppy aroma becomes apparent. Massive roast and fruity, liquorice malt flavours give sweetness at first before a long, bitter, hoppy finish. I like it a lot.

330 ml bottle bought @ Bierzwerg.de. Gusher! Pours very dark chestnut brown with a huge frothy off-white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some trace on the glass. Smell is rather subtle, sweet and malty with roasted malts, brandy, hints of metal and wood. Taste is dry, very slightly sweet, malty and bitter with coffee, ash, wood, minerals, liquorice root, roasted malts, hints of dried sweet fruits like raisins and prunes, molasses and alcohol. Finish is dry and bitter with coffee and caramel.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2012 Bottle. Careful opening it, comes out like a rocket.. Pours dark brown with a head that disappears. Aroma hops, some mals. Slightly sweet on the tongue like a czech beer. Hides the volts perfectly. Not Bad.

Currently drinking while typing. Yet another sensational brew from De Molen! Great aromas of plum, raisin, cherries, hops, sugars, rich dark cocoa and caramelled malts, very striking and different from what you expect. A very pretty looking dark black but subtle red vessel with a big bubbly foaming head of a tan colour, was a very slow gusher! I took the cap off and the foam started climbing slowly up the bottle neck. The flavours in this beer are incredible! Completely didn’t expect it to taste so hoppy and light for a dark looking 10.2% brew. Good flavours initially of floral hops, grape, plum, toasty malts and a gentle bitterness to the hops, all fading into a lasting floral and grassy hop aftertaste. Great feel in the mouth, the colour of the beer suggests it would be chewy and thick in the mouth but it has a delicate form that leaves the tongue tickled with suitable carbonation and not laden with heavy textures. Honestly I can’t praise De Molen’s brewing techniques enough! Absolutely love their work, definately recommended!

Pour ruby dark brown with beige head. Aroma hops, citrus, dark fruit, candi sugar, brown sugar, dried apricot. Taste dark fruits, candy sugar, hops, quite sweet, brown sugar, molasses, chocolate, raisins. MF full body light carb. Very tasty brew quite surprising well done way above average. Thanks Slovaksniper!!!
