Aroma of coffee, caramel, chocolate and toasted bread. Dark with a very small off white head. Thick and full bodied with hints of rasins, oak, wine, roasted bread, coffee and chocolate. Lots of flavours and a bit alcoholic. Very sweet as well. Aftertaste a bit dry and malty.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 26D, adapted). Bottle 33 cl - Bottled on 10/12/13. AROMA: very complex and rich aroma with vinous notes, dark caramel, dried dark fruits and cocoa. background slight malty sweet. no hop aroma. APPEARANCE: dark brown color with a lot of sediment in suspension. thin light brown head with very low retention, maybe due to high alcohol content. TASTE: very rich flavour with notes of dark caramel, dark dried fruits, a strong vinous and port-like flavour, dark cocoa, all blended with a very good supportive and sweet malty background. low bitterness with a semi-sweet and slight roasted bitter finish. PALATE: creamy and velvety texture with a smooth alcohol warmth. low carbonation. OVERALL: an oustanding dark ale with very complex aroma and flavour that leaves you wanting more and more. just needs a bit improvement on the appearance. Recommended.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
0,33 l bottle from EDEKA Mohr, bottled on 10/12/2013. Clear, very dark ruby with a thin, soapy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Intense, sweetish-fruity aroma of prunes, raisins, amarena cherries, cane sugar, coca-cola, caramel and lots of booze (rum). Shy notes of dark chocolate and licorice as well. Very sweet, fruity taste of prunes, raisins and amarena cherries, accompanied by molasses, cane sugar and a bit of caramel. Very long, slightly bitter and gently alcoholic, warming finish with notes of dark chocolate, licorice and rum. Full body, oily mouthfeel, totally flat. This is quite intense with lots of aroma and taste. Seems like a very strong doppelbock. The taste is fortunately not as alcoholic as the aroma suggests. Great winter warmer.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Deep dark brown coloured body with a very rich tan head, about four centimetres tall. Aroma of rich malt, alcohol, pit fruits, prunes, plums, yeast, bread, raisins and even a touch more caramel - very nice, and similar to a Roche 10 or Westy 12. Full-bodied; Strong malt flavours with a ton of earth and even more caramel tucked in, with a lot of pit fruits, some prunes and a good deal of raisins. Aftertaste shows a nice subdued sweet flavour with a bunch of malt and alcohol coupled with some grain and even a faint bit of sour notes at the very end. Overall, a very nice beer with a robust complexity and a great flavour profile throughout. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Viti Wine & Lager in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on 06-June-2015 for CA$8,65 sampled a day later in my hotel room here in central Vancouver on 07-June-2015 - date on bottle of 13-February-2012.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled 4/5/11, shared by Cuso at Bratislava Slovak-Austrian RB Tasting, thanks!
Dark copper body, with a big, frothy, yellowish to beige head.
Aroma of dried fruits, grapefruit, orange, cocoa.
Quite boozy tasty, with dried fruits, caramel, coffee, cocoa, some berries.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes roasty, a bit dry, smooth, with coffee.
Tasty. Although the alcohol is noticeable, it still drinks smooth. Great balance, with enough hops and roastiness, so that it doesn’t get too sweet. Another great brew by De Molen, although not among my favourites of them.

3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown color with very thin light brown foam layer. The smell has sugar written all over it. The taste is chocolate, coffee and a hell lot of diabetes. Smooth and boozy aftertaste.
