olio (8089) - Tampere, FINLAND - OCT 21, 2011
33 cl bottle. Brewed on 23.05.2010. Bottled on 24.06.2010.
Pours deep dark red colour with large beige head. Aroma of dark malts, caramel, yeast, distant notes of berries and vegetables, some spices and earth notes. Flavour of yeast, slightly roasted malts, light fruits, dry chocolate and distant toffee. Palate is quite smooth with a mouth-drying effect. More like an imperial stout than a belgian strong. Very good nonetheless.

33 cl bottle @ home. Brewed 23.05.2010, bottled 24.06.2010, BBE 24.06.2015
Aroma is very close to an imperial stout. Roasted malt, coffee, some candi sugar and hints of berries. Also De Molen house aroma is present. Very smooth palate. Flavour has lots of roasted malt, some candi sugar, hints of coffee, salty licorice and smoke. Bitter finish. More imperial porter or stout than belgian strong. Some hints of belgian yeast and sourness are present though.

Bottle 33cl. Dark brown, almost black with a big tan and creamy head. Aroma is malty, toasted, black chocolate, expresso. Taste is hopped, chocolate, wooden, with some hints of malts of whisky. Full bodied beer with an alcoholic and vinous aftertaste, dense, soft carbonation and oily feel.

Bottle from De Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands, 24th September 2011 consumed 7th October 2011 Dark brown in colour with a tan head, little sticky. Touch sticky at first with a real thickness in the mouth but then come a hoppiness. There is warmth from the alcohol and finally it is a little dry at the end. Little bit of candy floss in the mouth with a substantial sticky head. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.5

stravale (2547) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - OCT 3, 2011
Bottle @ BrewDog Edinburgh
Appearance - Jet black. Crazy massive tan head.
Aroma - Complex mix roasted malt, chocolate, bit of marmite, leather, molasses.
Taste - Complex. quite vinous, very fruity, raisins, dark malts, bit of smoke, strangely not much roast, coffee or chocolate. Interesting, perhaps a bit confusing.
Palate -Full bodied, smooth, finish is sweet fruity malt, not much roast. Silly carbonation levels, had to be left for a while then settled to a soft carb
Overall - It’s a good beer, but a bit over vinous. It looks like an Imperial Stout but doesn’t have as much of the expected coffee/roast taste, more vinous and fruity.

LoFi (1688) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 27, 2011
Bottle. Dark reddish brown with an extreme light brown head. The bottle wasn’t corked straight, and when trying to open it, a thin geyser sprayed over walls and ceiling. In the end, almost half the bottle had foamed away. Aroma: buttered corn, signs of an infection, but also malty, raisins. Taste: raisins and dried fruit, large maltiness, vinous, hints of a slight infection. Full-bodied and quite smooth. Pity, this could have been pretty good.
