330 ml bottle @ home. Brewed 19.5.2010.
Pours a black colour with a massive lacy and frothy white head. Hard to pour as the foam forms so fast. Aroma of burned malts, caramel, coffee and soap. Flavour of fruits, burned malts and coffee. Hoppy and warming finish with medium dryness. Medium bodied, oily to slicky mouthfeel and hard carbonation. Pretty hoppy for a Belgian Strong Ale and a bit unbalanced.

(bottle) pours an almost black clear ruby colour with a frothy beige head. aroma of sweet dark fruits and espresso, spicy rye bread, chocolate, brown sugar and herbs. flavour has more ash and toasted grain, especially in the finish, and a simultaneous increase in sweetness, with big mouth-coating notes of chocolate fudge and caramel, some alcohol is also apparent. medium to strong-bodied with fizzy carbonation. could be a little smoother.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Malt, licorice and apple syrup in the aroma. Full bodied. Malty sweet flavor with licorice and apple syrup. Salty notes. Hints of ash and smoke in the finish. Indeed, as the name says: beautiful and ruthless.

(Bottled, my 300th rating from Netherlands) Clear, dark cola brown with a large, firm and lacy, beige head. Aroma of caramel, burned sugar, nutty-aromatic hops. Slightly roasted-malty, sweetish-caramely flavor with dried fruit, black coffee, and a touch of ashiness. Quite strong, nutty-herby bitterness lingers in the finish. Alcohol almost fully hidden. Medium body, a bit thin for the ABV, sticky palate, slightly foamy CO2. An interesting combination of roasty coffee, aromatic and bitter hops, and sweet dark fruit. A bit too burned-charcoaly for me, though. 6635

Bottle from the brewery. Humongous, fine, tan head. Black beer. Aromas of caramel and chocolate, spicy. Big, sweet, flavor, gummy chocolate, big hops. Intense, with an airy mouth, lots of soft carbonation. Not too heavy, but creamy, with brown sugar, raisins, chocolate. Interesting, and shows lots of potential, but should be aged a bit more.

Ruthless indeed. 80 EBU’s coming right at ya. Slightly smoky finish. The foam is a thing of beauty but the bitterness is slightly too much for me.
