Last of the De Molen bottles that my wife gave me for my Bday. Pours lovely jet black with a generous tan foam head that stays till the last sip. Nose of chocolate, flowers, vanilla, and brown sugar carries through into the taste. Silky smooth full body, enough carbonation to help. This is fantastic, need to add more to the cellar.

Bottled: 02/13/2012, sampled: 10/18/16. Black in color with a mahogany shade if you shine a bright light thru it. Gigantic, dense tan head gives off a lot of sugary/syrupy sweetness even from a foot away. So much fruit on the nose!! Dried dark fruits (raisins, dates, plums), fresh black grapes, blackcurrant, vinous, bready malts, and some brown sugar. Do dark fruits dominate the nose? Yes, but don’t let it fool you…because the taste is somehow more complex than that! Of course it starts off with big red wine notes, but it moves towards a sort of black cherry cola, licorice, & toffee flavor before ending with malts, toasted nuts, milk chocolate, & light-roast coffee. Medium-to-full mouthfeel with minimal carbonation.

Świetne piwo. Fajny, choć mało intensywny aromat, wygląd spoko, a w smaku spora paleta doznań. Kolejne udane piwo z browaru De Molen.

0,33l bottle from Beergium. Pours black colour with small head. Strikes first as a weird beer. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, cocoa, dark fruits, bitterness, oak, some roasted malts but not very heavy on them. Quite lightish body for non-BA IS with the ABV, lively carbonation.

11.2 ounce bottle from Green’s Beverage Buford Highway, bottled 13/02/2012 and enjoyed 4/19/16. Dark brown, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of cherries, toffee, bread, yeast, caramel, a hint of soy. The taste is toffee, cherries, plums, spice, bread, yeast, anise. Medium bodied, still, mild booze. A good bit of oxidation but the beer wears it well. Nice sipper.

My treat for myself during a trip to Paris. 2013 bottle (nearly three years old), served on the warm side. Dark, cola brown. Quickly dissipating head that leaves just a swirl in the middle and a ring of bubbles. Very, very sweet nose. That could be the age. Brown sugar, vanilla, malt extract. Flavor adds leather, dark fruit, sweet tobacco, and a slightly meaty note. If it were a little more velvety smooth and didn’t have a slightly tinny note toward the finish, I’d have pegged it as HotD Adam. Almost like someone blended that brew with a half-rate quad. Hops don’t really make an appearance. Again, probably the age. Goood stuff though.

Nice one. Not much foam. Nice smell. Caramel, cacao, coffee, raisins. Some bitterness. Not entirely balanced for me (sweetness and bitterness could be more subtle), but nice nonetheless.

Butelka 330ml (29.06.2020). Piwo o ciemnobrunatnej barwie, beżowej pianie, dość obfitej choć po kilku chwilach pozostaje tylko cienki kożuszek. W aromacie ciemne owoce, suszone owoce, rodzynki, nuty opiekane, subtelnie winne a to wszystko dość intensywne i bardzo przyjemne w odbiorze. W smaku nuty opiekane, suszonych owoców, winne.
