3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
330ml bottle at home, bottled 17th September 2014
Aroma is soy sauce, slightly oxidised smell, vineous, dark, sweet. Very little head and some firm lacing.
Initial taste is sweet with a chocolatey note but jumbled with some odd flavours. Canít really place them. A bitterness on the end.
Ok mouth feel, light carbonation, sticky, coats your mouth.
I was disappointed. Just didnít do it for me, so many of the De Molen beers impressed me and this wasnít one.

Pours pitch black, with a brown beige lasting head. Nice thick stout, full flavor, chocolaty and coffee, bourbon booze edge. Very good.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: APR 4, 2015 330ml bottle (Drink Shop, Tallinn)
Slightly harsh aroma, a pleasant roast, but some acidic burntness. Pleasant rich roast. A bit thin palate, thinned by the BA almost certainly. Nice dark roast, some quite dry bitterness too. Pleasant sipper, but a bit hot. Would like to have a non BA version, as I donít think itís been charitable. Final "sip" was actually a glug, and it was much more interesting as the vapours rose up the back of the mouth and up the nose in a very nice spicy spirit-like fashion. Overall, still disappointed.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Revo. Wtf. Soy sauce is first. Itís goopy. Light smoke, heavy sweetness under the tongue, grape hubba bubba, overly sweet. There is a very solid bourbon chunk, light alc, burnt sugar, kind of a mess that works.... ish. Pretty much a waste of money. Canít hit a home run all the time. Some times you gotta skull a Make-A-Wish progeria kid down the third base line.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Pibar, Lausanne; bottled May 20th 2014
Dark color, almost black, no head. Syrupy mouthfeel, oily; huge soy sauce flavor, salty liquorice; boozy alcohol.
No matter how I usually like De Molen Imperial Stouts, this one is too clumsy.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330mL bottle, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma is complex, with bourbon barrels, vanilla, a little smoke, and booze. Flavour brings out unusual notes of salt, smoke, and light bourbon. Soy sauce notes on the finish which ends up dominating - too much soy sauce. Very strange stuff -- the salt, smoke and soy are somehow fitting. Not overly complex, but a nice slow sipper.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Plan B, Brewpub Rotterdam, Sunday 15th March 2015 in company of Dad & Barry An absolute beast of a beer, its a mighty big beast. Thick black oily and with a light beige rim. Thick in mouth, really quite bitter, the barrel ageing works wonders. A big beer to have mid afternoon, but I did. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.8
