Bottle at home, 25th April 14. Pours with little or no head, quite unusual, no lacing. The beer has some bourbon on the nose, liquorice, the first thing that hits you is the huge mouth feel, really thick, nice, but more so than any other De Molen imperial stout. There is leather, liquorice in the taste, the bourbon is faint. Liked this one, quite decadent

Bottle 330 ml at home, into a snifter, ABV 10.8%, side to side with the Rum Barrel Aged version, bottled on Sep. 17 2013 Pours totally black, with a brown thin line forming where the beer meets the glass, plus some bubbles on the surface. No lacing, even after a swirl of the glass, nothing sticks on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, wood, faint alcohol, weak bourbon. Taste is much better, quite sweet, with roasted malts, the alcohol accompanying nicely, some wood, light vanilla. Very thick body, maybe the thickest I’ve met in a De Molen beer, or at least the thickest I can remember now. Low carbonation that fits perfectly. Overall a great IRS, not heavy on the bourbon or wood notes though, very enjoyable.

Bottled. Pours deep brown near to black with a tan, medium sized and creamy tan head. Malty nose of bitter chocolate, vanilla and notes of bourbon. Sweet flavor that ends up dry with alcohol notes. Full to medium bodied, oily texture and flat to soft carbonation. An excellent impy.

Bottle courtesy of and shared with Deanso. Poured a deep mahogany with a frothy tan head. The aroma is rich boozy alcohol with a little band aid. The flavour is strong bitter with a strong alcoholic liqourice bitter, creamy roasted malt palate. Full bodied with flat carbonation. Has a long bitter finish with an oily mouthfeel.
