Bottle from Bodegraven. Pours a small dark brown, oily, head that dissipates halfway. Minor carbonation, might improve with ageing. Heavy alcohol and musky barrel aromas. Syrop or port style mouthfeel. Complex mix of dark choc, dark fruits, and a sweet caramel bourbon. Would age well, and score better in 5 years time.

Pours deep midnight black with medium coffee head that fades to a ring on the inner glass. Aroma and Flavor is sticky toffee, pipe tobacco, roasty/caramel malt, dutch cocoa, smoked barrel and blueberry. A little too hot and sweet at the moment but you can tell this will be awesome in 2 years. Classic de molen brew that warms you the hell up. Proost

0.33 l bottle, thanks hanniku! Black color with viscous look. Concentrated aroma of oak, soya sauce, burnt raisins and salty licorice. Roasty, bitter and woody taste with salty licorice, coffee, soya sauce, balsamico, bourbon, heavy oakiness and some smoke. Woody, salty and bitter finish. Very slow concentrated sipper with lots of (too much) woody oak.

This one is quite a standard, but good standard IMP stout. Moderate to intense roasted malts, light coffee, choco, licorice, bit wood and quite light bourbon note. Moderate sweetness with moderate bittersweet finish. Decent and enjoyable brew, but nothing outstanding.

@ Borefts 2014. Pour pitch black with a dark brownish hue, and a small khaki frothy head. Aroma is of roasted malts, slight smoke, plenty of coffee, bitter chocolate, some barrel characters for sure, and some sour oaky notes to it as well. Tate is pretty sweet up front, some acidic notes in the middle, and a heavy dose of bitterness out. Full n’ oily body, with a semi flat carbonation.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2014 Pours black with a tiny and rather fizzy brown head. Aroma is sweet and roasted with lots of sweet bourbon, caramel, chocolate, toffee, roasted malts, some figs and dates. Taste of dark roasted malts, coffee, bitter liquorice, bitter chocolate, coffee and some booze in the end. A bit hot, yet tasty!

On tap. Pour black with moderate retentive tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, ash, light smoke, and roasted malts. Flavors of smoked malts, licorice, and dried coconuts. Didn’t get any bourbon.

Black colour, nice mocca head. Aroma of chocolate, licorice, brown sugar. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter, light sour. Medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Interesting

Keg 0,3 l, Kontynuacja, Wrocław, Poland. Czarne piwo, z ciemnobeżową, puszystą, sztywną i trwałą pianą oraz intensywnym, winnym, lekko wiśniowym aromatem. W smaku głębokie i złożone, początkowo słodkawe, lekko wiśniowe, winne z wyczuwalnym alkoholem a na finiszu wytrawne z długo pozostającym winnym, owocowym posmakiem.

Bottle bought @ bierkompass.de. Pours viscous pitch black with no head worth mentioning. Smell is malty with roasted malts, dark chocolate, cheddar cheese, sweetened coffee, moist soil, burnt caramel and hints of smoke and alcohol. Taste is sweet, tiny bitter, malty and smokey with roasted malts, burnt caramel, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, smoke, charred wood, vanillin, soil, minerals, cheese rinds and smoked ham. Mouthfeel is soft, round, flat and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, tiny bitter, malty and smokey with roasted malts, caramel, vanilla fudge, cheese, soil, chocolate, coffee, hay, and smoke. Bit unrefined but works… Menno knows his dark beers but this doesn’t have much soul (or carbonation) in it.
