Bottle from Bodegraven. Pours a small dark brown, oily, head that dissipates halfway. Minor carbonation, might improve with ageing. Heavy alcohol and musky barrel aromas. Syrop or port style mouthfeel. Complex mix of dark choc, dark fruits, and a sweet caramel bourbon. Would age well, and score better in 5 years time.

Almost black, brown head. Odd in a way. Some good chocolate, lots of bourbon. But some tartness sneaks in, roast, overripe fruit and licorice.

0,33L bottled 20.05.2014, ABV 10,8%. Pours black with brown head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is intense bourbon, roast, dark chocolate, raisins, alcohol, hint of coffee and some sourness. Flavor is sour, bitter, and sweet, dark chocolate, roast, coffee, and licorice. Finish is intense and long coffee bitter with dark chocolate. Overall: great brew.

Shared by martjoobolut, thanks! Ruby brown, brown head. Nose is alcohol, bourbon, wood, coffee, chocolate, malt, cherries, roasty notes. Flavor is bourbon, wood, leather, roast, milk chocolate, sherry, sour notes, sharp alcohol in the finish. Heavy and complex, very nice sipper.

Bottle at a camping in Hungary. Black pour, thick tan head. Aroma of licorice, chocolate, molasses, roasted malts, vanilla, leather and slightly spicy peppers. Flavor is thick syrupy bitter malts with a chocolate sweetness. Very nice balance, huge body and very smooth. Great brew.

It’s very very good. But it hardly taste like a beer any more for me. I felt only strong alcohol in it. It has a taste of vanilla and cherry. You can feel of course this bourbon barrel. Aroma is unbelievable rich. There is cherry, vanilla, chocolate and caramel. You can’t find there any hops, the bitterness is completely covered by alcohol.

Botle. Black in color, beige head which minimized quickly. Coffee, dark malt aroma with some dried fruits and bourbon. Very sweet with dark and roasted malts and woody notes. Bourbon also present. Very full bodied, thick, this is big beer. Low carbonation.

Minkenbraeu (8) - GERMANY - MAY 29, 2014 does not count
