330ml bottle. Pours out inky black with a lazy, molecule-thick brown head. Aroma is interesting and unusual. Rum comes through for sure but notes of pastry crust and BBQ-like meatiness throw me off. Thick and oily on the tongue with a hefty malt sweetness tempered by bitter dark chocolate notes. I think the barrel contributes better here than in the aroma, but the base stout may not have been amongst the best to begin with.

33cl bottle at home. Almost black with a small tan head. Full body with low carbonation. Quite sweet with some bitter tones. Rum, raisin, coffee, dark chocolate, spices, oak, vanilla and some roasted malts. Wow! I really loved this one, the rum makes it an absolutely tasty experience.

Small format brown bottle poured into a glass. Black with big dark brown highlights. Aroma is rum, medium body, low carbonation, and little small-bubble lacing. Taste is rum, roasted malt, and lactose. Not for me.

Bottle. Pours an inky black with a khaki head. The aroma is ashy, sweet, rum, wood, smoke. The taste is sweet and a little ashy. Some spice too. Thick mouthfeel. Low carbonation.

Thick oily black body with a small beige head. Powerful nice aroma. Chocolate, oak, vanilla and a bit fruity. Oh yeah I can sip on this all evening. What a lovely brew. Nice balance. Chocolate, rum, oak, vanilla and mild fruity flavor. More please. Dangerously well masked alcohol.

Malty aroma, roasted, rum, chocolate, figs, raisins, cocoa, smoked, figs, cocoa, some licorice. Roasted chocolate flavor, smoked, figs, smoked sausage, figs, raisins, cocoa notes. Nice but not in the top division from this brewery.

MotherBrother (764) - Aalborg, DENMARK - OCT 17, 2014
Pour pretty black, with a thin ring of tan head. Aroma of sticky molasses, vanilla, plenty of vanilla barrel goodness, roasted malts, smoke, bacon, (that meaty smoke surely smells a lot like bacon) faint chocolate, some licorice, rum soaked dark fruits. When swallowed, this beer leaves a long and lingering sensation of rum on the pallet. Taste is pretty sweet, with faint bitter notes. But sure is dominantly sweet. Body is sticky, oily and thick, with a pretty flat carbonation, though the booze is doing some sort of pricking on the tongue. A little alcohol burn in the throat, but nottin’ munch. 10,8% sticker.

Really like this, heavy aroma's, lots of alcohol, to enjoy very slowly, sipping away. No head at all, and I really enjoyed that I had to update ratebeer.com to add this one, just to give a good rating :-) One of my favorites so far! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Prokroustis (689) - Thessaloniki, GREECE - SEP 30, 2014
(10.8% abv bottle). Black body, minimal light brown head. Strong, roasted malty aroma with chocolate, vanilla, mocha, a strong rum note. Full, heavy palate with minimal carbonation. Flavour is moderately sweet with a lot of rum, as well as coffee, licorice, salt, dark chocolate, a very dry finish. Not as well rounded as the bourbon version but still a great beer.
