Bottle @ unibaren, 20 / 7 2013. Dark clear brown, not a lot of head or lacing. Aroma, used coffe filter (and i mean that in the best way), roasted malts, bitter chocolate, some alcohol. Taste, bitter coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, . Bitter dry coffee aftertaste. Good mouth feel, not too much carbonation. The aroma is amazing, I don’t know how you make old coffee smell good, but they do.

Pours a beautiful black beer with a good tan head. I love the smell of this one. Coffee, roasted. Taste is not that wonderful. Bit to much coffee. Licorice, laurier. Bit vanilla. Low carbo which is good. Thick body and a dry texture. Bit burning.

maekchu (1756) - Hirakata, JAPAN - JUL 12, 2013
Bottle from Asahiya. Big coffee nose right up front, burnt grain, and some fumes. Thick dark brown, no head, no lace. Rich coffee initial, with some light chocolate / mid brings out some burnt notes, but not unpleasant as are many coffee brews / final is rich and ripe, with flavors modulating in final, and with noticeable alcohol warmth. Medium body, with a creamy mouthfeel. Very nice. Mild and light bodied for the high alc. level.

Bottle. Black with a thin tan head. Aroma of freshly brewed coffee. The flavour is delicious. Strong coffee with a bit of chocolate and the underlying threat of alcohol. Tastes very smooth and easy going considering how high the stakes are. The alcohol is well masked but catches up with you towards the end.

Bottle from Zly casy. Aroma strong coffee, heavy roasted malt. Beneath it lie some dark fruits. Heavy brown head, almost black colour. Taste is far more harmonic than aroma. There is some heavy malty sweetness to balance the really strong coffee. Dark fruits in the next layer. Not much more, but enough still. Quite drinkable for the ABV. Warming finish. Oily texture.

Bottle 33 cl, bottled on 02.09.2011. Poured dark brown in color with a thick and creamy tan head. Strong coffee beans in aroma, a bit of cocoa powder and ligh notes of burnt wood in aroma. Feels heavy and dark. Roasted coffee, bitter chocolate and and even a bit of some sweeter notes as in coffee liqour in taste. Feels quite light as there’s no sign of the quite high abv. Bitter chocolate and roasted coffee in finish.

on tap at l’autre oeil, aylmer. very dark brown pour with a minimal light beige head, some retention. strong drip coffee, dark roasted malts - not overdone, coffee berries and dark fruitiness, some pepper and spices, earthy, nutty and a touch of burnt caramel - light maple sweetness too. average to soft carbonation, medium body - bit thin for its abv and style, strong bittering coffee and lightly piney medium long finish. some what linear but it’s an enjoyable coffee impy.

Appearance: Black with short lived tan head. Aroma: Intense and gorgeous coffee bean notes and a little chocolate. Taste: Initially coffee, maltyness and slight spicyness. Light sweetness. Aftertaste was bready, hint of prune tartness, with a lingering alcohol warmth and bitterness. Palate: Thin body, smooth texture and finish, little to no carbonation. Comments: I would definitely have this one again and would certainly recommend to a friend. Served in a snifter.
