Bottle, pours a deep black with a minimal head, aromas of old wine and coffee, roasty dry-sweet palate, creamy tart-winey texture, rich with hints of whisky plus faintly of cocoa and gravy.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2014 Drank 17-9-2014 at home, one of my last beers at my Tilburg home. Did not like it. Thin beer, with almost no foam. Strong coffee taste. Ends bitter, spa rood aftertaste, unpleasant.

Tap. Pours really dark brown with a creamy, but small off-white head.some lacing. Aroma is toasty with some roasty notes, dark chocolate, espresso, some raisin and burnt figs. Coffee! Taste is roasty espresso coffee! Sweet, but medium bitter finish. Taste is more milk chocolate than aroma and hints of vanilla and dries fruits. Really intense coffee and drinkable despite the high ABV. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On bottle in Amsterdam; pours very dark black. Aroma of espresso. Body was medium with a nice espresso taste along with dark cocoa. Very easy drinking .. though the alcohol starts to show as it warms. Overall, a very nice beer and I would buy again

Visual: A whopping 11.6% ABV!!! Should be good... Pours dark beer bottle brown, a smallish head, a thin ultra-micro bubbly layer of retention, some lacing, a few hard-to-see tiny CO2 streams. Nose: Fragrant deep-roasted coffee, some caramel malts, lots of chocolate, trace amounts of sourness. (lvl-10)-pungency Attack: slick-crisp mouthfeel Mid-palate: immediate bold flavours of -> (MAIN) deep roasted coffee, chocolate, demerara sugar, mild alcohol detection, late -> (lvl-5) malty sweetness Finish: light counterbalancing sourness, gentle long-soft bitter hops, background non-invasive alcohol heat, smooth bittersweet roasted coffee finish. Summary: Initial sip = knew this was a great brew, absolutely stunningly smooth. ABV is supremely well-hidden by the full-bodied mocha-malt mix. It’s like drinking a nicely bittersweetened roasted coffee beverage. Kudos to the De Molen team for such a fab brew. Lots of roasted coffee on the inhale-exhale. Alcohol detection increases as it warms.

Poured deep dark brown with a frothy beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate and roast malt, light ashtray. Medium to full body, flavour much as the aroma, reasonably sweet.

Bottle, 0.33l, shared with Hoppiness crew. Pours almost black color with barely noticable light brown head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt and chocolate. Taste starts with sweet and rich roasted malt, supported with strong coffee with chocolate hints, following is slightly acidic with notes of dried fruits and liquorice, mouthfeel is warming, although alcohol is well hidden, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, syrupy texture and soft carbonation in palate. Yes, it’s quite one dimensional, but still hell of a good one...

Fľaša. Čierna farba, hnedá pena, nízka, rýchlo opadla. Vôňa pražených sladov, zľahka karamel, v pozadí kapučíno, kakao. V chuti niečo úžasné. Začiatok pražených sladov, neskôr kapučíno, jemne karamel a v pozadí zalievaná káva. Taktiež cítiť lieskové oriešky. Dlhá dochuť, jemne horká. Nasýtenosť stredná. Jedno z naj pív, ktoré som od De Molen pil.

Pours pitch black with almost nonexisting head. Nose is coffee, roasted malt and creamy mocha cake! Taste is quite strange, feels like it is not finished. At first coffee, chocolate and caramel but then there is a heavy taste of spent roasted malts from mashing. Light carbonation and thick mouthfeel. Interesting but not to a great one.
