(Bottle #341 at Kaisla, Helsinki, on 2009-08-28) Black. Very small head. Coffee and roastedness in aroma. Full bodied and warming palate with medium carbonation. Malts, coffee, sweetness, liquorice, bitterness and roastedness in taste. Coffee and bitterness in aftertaste. Coffee drowned the beer.

0.75 l bottle at PBF. Black color with creamy head. Strong coffeish aroma with notes of apple. Sweetish, coffeish, appley, nutty and very warming flavor. Tastes mainly of coffee and apple, perhaps needs some aging.

Tap at Haarlemse Biermarkt: Very black coloured brew with an rich coffee taste. If you drunk an cold coffee thats can taste bad, but in this beer-form its just great.

75cl bottle from Bert’s Bierhuis, ABV 10%. Black colour, big brown head. Aroma of used ground coffee and chocolate. Flavour is coffee, lots of sweet and bitter chocolate, bittersweet coffee finish. Quite a lot of carbonation. Fullbodied. Tastes too much like pure ground coffee, and not like the delicious drink. The chocolate flavours save the beer.

Bottle at the RBESG09, Grand tasting, sheffield. Alround rating: Quite a bit of coffee and bitter black chocolate, theres a small lychee character in there too, which makes it quite interesting.

A Sim rate: Keg at Ealing Beer Festival.
Pitch black with no head. Aroma is so SO coffee... as you’d expect. It’s espresso with extra beans thrown in. The flavour is slightly too bitter with a hit that knocks your socks off. It’s like the espresso that has been sitting in the pot for hours until dad decides to finish it off. Overall, such an amazing aroma, I could sniff that all day. Just wish the flavour was as smooth.

Caught it at the brewery De Molen in Bodegraven, the Netherlands. A coffee dark beer with a nice beige head. High CO2 pressure, according to the type of beer. Aroma, like a smooth espresso or cafe as the romans say. A hint of liquorice and higher alcohols. The flavour confirms the aroma, and the caramel flavour is added. I expected the hop bitters but this beer ends, where this review started, with coffee.

From keg at Ealing BF 2009. Black no head. Extreme coffee aroma. One of the smoothest things I’ve had. Pure choc and espresso. Stunning finish of freshly gorund coffee. Sublime. One of the best coffee impy stouts I’ve had. It’s good, really good, so drinkable and adorable.
