Thanks to Chriso and fonefan for sharing a bottle at The BrewDog bar in Manchester. Cloudy amber, dissipating bubbly head. Tart and sweet aroma, hints of caramel and sour berries. Taste of tart berries, some spices and sour apples. Rather dough-like- Tart, sweet and dry ending. Possible to drink, however, rather disjointed in my book (25.01.2013).

Bottle, 9.2%. Complex aroma of vanilla and acetic wood notes. Hazy dark brown colour. Small frothy white head. The flavour starts off quite citric, lactic acid perhaps, then comes a vanilla note and then more acidity. A good beer, but I do not really get the combination of vanilla and acid. Low carbonation.

Bottle. Pours hazy, oily rich amber with small off-white head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel, barrel, and yeast. Sourish, vinous flavour, enhanced by notes of caramel malt and barrel. Vinous and rough aftertaste. Nearly no carbonation. Warming alcohol presence. Nice but quite far from what I expected.

Bottle thanks to Rainer. Pours a cloudy gold with small off white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong lacto, oak, and funk. Thin mouthfeel with light tartness, salt, oak, funk, and light sweet finish. Easy to drink, hiding the alcohol well, very good.

Bottle shared at chriso’s. Pours clear amber-gold with a frothy white head. The nose has some tangerine, plastic, some perfume. Light sweet flavor, fairly salty, with citric juice, lemon, light melon. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Quenching finish with more salty kiss, lemony tang, some sweat, mild sugars, tangerine. Very drinkable.

Bottle at Casper is back tasting. Hazy amber lasting whiye head. Sweet and sour. Rather decent. Loved the sweet and sour mix

Scopey (7390) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 12, 2014
Bottle thanks to Matteo. It pours deep amber with a small bubbly white head. The nose is grainy, apricot, fruit cake, candy, peach, strawberry and parma violets. The taste is bitter, tangy, decent acidity, candy, peach, apricot, sour, sherbet, mild caramel, gooseberry and wood with a dry, tart finish. Medium body and low carbonation. A lot better than it sounds. Decent.

330ml bottle @ the Sixth Shrewsbury Bottle Share, June 14, courtesy of Simon. Pours murky brown, fizzy sour notes with tart red berry fruits, floral elements and a generally quite muddled character. It’s alright, but just find it hard to get into this.

Dirty, copper tinted dishwater look. No head. Very unappealing. Aroma is highly acidic. An amalgamation of vinegar and lemon juice mostly. Some bourbon. Palate is very much like soda pop. Large bubbles and fizzy on the tongue. Flavor is salty and sour. Lactic acid, lemon juice, hint of bourbon. Leaves a salty alcoholic resin in its wake. Finish reminds me of sucking on a lime after a tequila shot. Acidity exceeds my tolerance level.

Nocturne (882) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - JUN 4, 2014
330ml bottle. Pours out copper with one of the worst excuses for a head I’ve seen. Nose is unmistakable bourbon with fruit and caramel. Beer below seems a touch floral. Complex bourbon and toffee taste, seemingly moving through sweet, sour and salty and then drying at the finish. Syrupy feel on the tongue. Very unusual overall but in a strange way it does seem to work.

Gerbeer (1992) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 24, 2014
330 ml bottle. Pours a hazy light mahogany with very light head of big bubbles that dissipate quickly. Aromas of coconuts, resin, limes, and toasted malts. Fruity and sour. Neat. Flavors of apples and raisins, like a pre-baked pie; light citrus, apricots, and fresh white bread. A little salty. A Gose? I don’t know but an incredible concoction.
