COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A beast of a imperial stout! Nacht & Ontij matured almost a year on Cognac barrels. The beer has eased down a lot. A divine brew.

Bouteille. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Red waxed 33cl bottle pick up at De Molen bottle shop well over a year ago where it has Sept. 5th 2012 and 14% ABV indicated on the label. The aroma offers up chocolate, dark roasted malts, slim charred malts, molasses, oak, brownie and a light booziness at this early stage. The taste, oh man, the more I sip on this the more I love it. I get molasses drizzled chocolate brownie, dark roasted malts, caramel soaked burnt malts and then smooth cognac. To midway the smooth cognac booze and spicy oak surge forward for a few moments and then recede allowing the tasty rich malty goodness of chocolate, dark roasted malts, burnt malts and molasses take you into the finish. Love it. This shows no signs of going down hill either.

2012 Bottle from Simon about a year ago that I found while boxing up my cellar. Low carb pour, pitch black, no head. Aroma is strong fruitiness, some coffee, some chocolate, some alcohol. Taste is dark fruits, chocolate, warming booze. Really nice stuff. I think I might love cognac barrels

Bottle. Black with a porous beige head. Aroma: cognac, roasted, salty licorice, light berries. Taste: licorice, roasted, creamy, milk chocolate, definitely cognac, fruity. Full-bodied. A very nice cognac aging.

Bottle at home, from the De Molen shop, 11/01/14. Light black with a thin beige swirl mid glass that resembled the British Leyland logo! Soon cleared to spotting before I had chance to take a picture of this mother Theresa like vision. Nose is light roast, bitter chocolate, earthy, light dirt, booze, toffee fudge. Taste comprises dark chocolate, mineral bite, earthy, woody tones, Terrys chocolate orange kind of Cognac hit, booze. Full bodied, fine carbonation, lightly warming boozedom in the closure. This is a little harsh as Impys go, whilst an overly sweet offering doens’t usually float my boat, this was just a touch too bitter and harsh. Drinkable affair none the less but not one I’d revisit.

Bottle@home. Poured black, with a slight burgundy edge and almost no head. Sharp nose of alcohol, dark chocolate, coffee and cognac. First sip brings caramel, molasses, licorice, plum, apricot, vanilla, and plenty of hops. Dense, oily, syrupy as expected. Sweet, roasty lasting aftertaste. Alcohol is surprisingly well hidden. Overall smooth but heavy beer, outstanding.

UPDATED: MAY 3, 2014 shared bottle. poured dark black with a non lasting chocolate head. cagnac notes but not overwhelming in the aroma. taste of sweet chocolate. vanilla, oak. A lot of cognac. creamy chocolate, real thick and creamy mouthfeel. almost no carbonation but the cognac barrel really steals the show here in a good way. again a real top class BA stout from de molen.

Thanks to Sinterklaas. Pours a pitch black beer with a not very long lasting brown head. Smells sweet fruits, bourbon, alcohol, coffee. Tastes coffee, alcohol, bit spicey amd roasted malts. Medium body, burning and sticky texture with a low carbo. A bit alcoholic for me. But certainly not bad.
