Pours brownish red with no head. Aroma has notes of malts, hops and cherry. Taste is malty and slightly sweet but not hoppy or carbonated. Smooth finish, alcohol warms nicely. Almost barley wine like, well balanced.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 RexTalionis (591) - FINLAND - JUN 5, 2011

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ClubGonzo (1979) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 21, 2011
Bottle @ Baran, Bergen. Fascinating, but weird appearance: near-murky, rusty brown body with virtually no head. Like some sort of rust soup. Aroma is more inviting: spruce, licorice, herbs, pepper and deep malty tones. Taste is sweet malts, herbs, grass, wood, barley wine-type toffee/caramel tones. An OK, fairly original crossbreed between an English Strong Ale and a Traditional Ale, if you ask me. The low hop bitterness and spicy, herbal profile reminds me of a "gruit" beer more than anything else.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ungstrup (23969) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - APR 18, 2011
Bottled at RBESG 2010 Grand Tasting. An unclear dark amber beer with an orangey head. The aroma has notes of spices - especially coriander and ginger, combined with notes of flowers. The flavor is sweet with strong ntoes of spices - especially coriander, leading to a dry spicy finish. A bit too spicy for my liking.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Palme (1437) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAR 7, 2011
0.75l botte @ Baran Cafe, Bergen. Pours a cloudy darkish amber body with a thin white head. Aromas are dominated by hops, malts, yeast and a subtle citrus hint. Medium bodied and decent carbonated. Tastes first green banana, honey melon and spices then the sweet red apple really kicks inn and dominates completely before the experience ends in a slightly dry and medium bitter finish.
