COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sometimes things go wrong at a brewery. While brewing our Donder & Bliksem a mistake was made and we added a lot of malts that weren’t suppose to go in this brew. This is how our Bohemian Lager turned into a Schwarzbier. As you see, we turn our Difficulties into a Virtue.

Flaske 0,33l på vertshuset Skarven 15 Jan 13. Kjempedypbrun. Høyt luftig skum med litt farge. God, svakt krydret aroma. Litt søt. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken er mye krydder og blir litt tørr etter hvert. Svakt metallisk avslutning.

Bottle from realale.com shop on Richmond Road, Twickenham. A dark brown/red coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Sweet, dark fruit aroma. Tastes of dark fruit, slightly sweet, liquorice, some chocolate in there. It is alright but I was expecting something more from a De Molen beer.

Pours very dark brown with a thin foam head. Well balanced carbonation, nice choky aromas, toffee and roasted bread notes. I really thought it was a baltic porter. I realise it is a schwarzbier. Honnestly I cannot feel the difference so I need more training! Glasses up! Cheers

Medium beige head. Deep dark brown body with big dark lumps hovering. Roasted sugar and wood aroma with spicy caramel notes. Dry-sweet roasted sugar and sandalwood taste with lacquer, caramel, and toffee notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel, leaves little lumps on tongue. Dry spicy roasty caramel sauce and roasted sugar aftertaste with cinnamon and wood notes. Really nice, apart from those awful lumps. (0.33l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

[bottle--thanks, fonefan!] Relative weak aroma of dried fruit and noble hops. Nearly opaque, ruddy dark brown under off-white lace and a ring of large bubbles. Dry, cereal grain/pumpernickel flavour with raisins and tobacco. Assertive bitterness that quickly dissipates under medium carbonation and a dry finish. Light body, medium carbonation (low for de Molen!), clean, almost mineral watery finish.

0,3 liter fles@HOME.. Lekkere bier ook al vind ik niet dat het een schwarzbier is. de kleur is wel zwart. maar hij gaat meer in de richting van de Guiness.

Bottled. Clear very dark brown, small head. Chocolaty nose. Dryish with clean, rounded mouthfeel and medium body. Chocolatey with notes of coffee and grass. Mid bitter finish.

(330ml bottle) From Craft Beer Advent Calendar. Thin frothy brown head and a deep brown body. Nose of white grapes and plums. Somewhat dirty tasting - slightly tonic, some deep malt, a tad thin, some ashtray. Okay.

330ml brown bottle from Craft Beer Advent Calendar. Deep dark brown pour, a hint of red showing through. Thin layer of beige head with mild lacing. Nose is roasty, slightly earthy, some chocolate. In the mouth the beer is roasty with dark chocolate notes, background fruitiness and caramel. Finishes with some rich cocoa-y notes, some roasted bitterness and a bit of sharper grassy hop. Medium body with medium carbonation. Not a text book schwarzbier but enjoyable.

Advent Calendar #3. So this is what happens when you throw lager yeast and Czech hops into a porter? Oh apparently they went at it from the other direction. I like how these guys are experimental, but not in the "canned pumpkin pulp and fake vanilla extract" way. Chocolate on the nose, caramel and a touch of bitterness on the tongue, Saaz and lingering caramel on the finish. Cool. Became a study in lager yeast for me.
