(330ml bottle) From Craft Beer Advent Calendar. Thin frothy brown head and a deep brown body. Nose of white grapes and plums. Somewhat dirty tasting - slightly tonic, some deep malt, a tad thin, some ashtray. Okay.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml brown bottle from Craft Beer Advent Calendar. Deep dark brown pour, a hint of red showing through. Thin layer of beige head with mild lacing. Nose is roasty, slightly earthy, some chocolate. In the mouth the beer is roasty with dark chocolate notes, background fruitiness and caramel. Finishes with some rich cocoa-y notes, some roasted bitterness and a bit of sharper grassy hop. Medium body with medium carbonation. Not a text book schwarzbier but enjoyable.

Advent Calendar #3. So this is what happens when you throw lager yeast and Czech hops into a porter? Oh apparently they went at it from the other direction. I like how these guys are experimental, but not in the "canned pumpkin pulp and fake vanilla extract" way. Chocolate on the nose, caramel and a touch of bitterness on the tongue, Saaz and lingering caramel on the finish. Cool. Became a study in lager yeast for me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy dark brown color with a big creamy brown head that lasts the beer. Aroma is chocolate, yeast and some funky fruity esthers. Taste is a sweet cocoa, fig and yeast up front & then finishes with a nice bitter dark chocolate. Medium dry finish to this beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Day 3 CBAC. Use a BIG glass as there is plenty of foam. Dark beer with nice highlights when held to the light. Crisp and clear, at least from the top half of the bottle after the foam settles. Aroma of sweetness and dark malt when still. When swirled sweetness is replaced with a light yeasiness. Body is a little still. Flavour has some sweetness, very dark almost burnt malt and some bitter licorice and saltiness.

Bottle, Dec 3 Beer Advent Calendar. Gotta say, I am VERY impressed with the quality of the breweries in this thing so far! De Molen...YES! Very dark brown pour, with a haziness that is evident as I hold the beer against the light. A nice classic schwarz profile of roast and bitter chocolate, with some subtle yeasty fruit esters thrown in for good measure. Solid.
