3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Bacchanalia in Cambridge. Poured a cloudy amber colour with a thin white head. Yeasty aroma with notes of orange peal and cloves. Initial flavour was very bitter fruit rind with sharp sharp acidic notes and a little candy sugar. Finish was bready malt, hop resin and brown sugar. Not sure if this bottle was quite up to par, as this wasn’t at the usual high standard for De Molen.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle at home. Hazy orange pour, thin white head. Aroma is full of fruity hops, floral, some resin, pine and very full. Flavor is very sweet malts, fruity hops, slightly spicy and with a thick body. Very nice brew, except.. again no carbonation at all! Shame, as it definitely ruins another otherwise awesome brew.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Label states 8.0%. Hazy, deep amber. Thin, off white head. Tinned peach, caramel, sweet malt, antiseptic. Taste is syrup sweet. Then grapefruit, with a dollop of sugar on top, as per a breakfast 30 years ago. Heavy, sweet, oily palate. Dry, bitterness, pops up eventually, but a bit too late for me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, 330 ml. Into a tulip glass at home. ABV 8%, bottled on 2/9/13
Pours a deep orange/brown colour on the body, quite murky. More clear when hold against the light, but still hazy. Something more than one finger of head on top, off-white in colour, with good retention. Bubble islands and light lacing left on the glass.
Aroma of light pine, floral notes, grass, orange peel, light citrusy.
Taste of orange peel and citrus, grapefruit, with not so high bitterness but with a good long duration. Some malty sweetness that quickly gets eradicatd by the hoppy bitterness. Well hidden alcohol, only notable later when the beer has gotten warmer and even then only as a touch.
Medium thin body, low carbonation. Dry palate.
Overall quite good DIPA, classic De Molen
