Great pale ale. Citra is like a grapefruit citrus aroma explosion. Surprising in its balance, especially a nice caramel body. Tried with Nick in Utrecht in 2014.

TET (1642) - FINLAND - AUG 8, 2014
A norange beer with a very big, blond and slightly soapy head. The nose has gooseberries, blackberries and tropical fruits. Taste has gooseberries, tropical fruits, mild fructose, at least medium bitterness. Medium bodied, strong carbonation. Seemingly only Citra is used, and a bottle is almost a year old but still aromatic and in good shape. Aromatic and quite strong bitterness.

On tap at the brewery. Hazy orange with a nice creamy off-white head. The aroma of this beer is amazing. Peach, melon, grapefruit, lemon, caramel, resin. This smells seriously good, just so dense and inviting. Unfortunately, as I see now that other reviewers have also found, the flavour simply doesn’t live up. It’s good, oily with peach and grapefruit, but it doesn’t hit home. In the case of the draught version, this is also rather flat. Still a good beer.

Cloudy amber body with tons of sediment. Large, creamy, off-white head. Fairly dull aromas which may suggest it’s past its best. Some rotting mango and other stone fruits. Light sweet taste, little bitter. Full carbonation.

Bottle from beerhunter111, many thanks: Orange color, hazy, off-white head. Aroma is very fruity/hoppy, grapefruit, orange peel, resin, mango, tropical fruits. Flavor is malty, light sweetness, light caramel note, hoppiness of resin, citrus, citrus peel, tropical fruits. Dry, medium bitterness. Decent.

330ml bottle from Vinmonopolet Nesodden. Large, beige head with really big bubbles which settles quickly. Dark orange cloudy body. Aroma is hoppy and very fresh. Caramel-like malt sweetness. The citra hops are very present, and reminds of orange peel and tropical fruits. Has a sensation of feels unusually highly carbonated on the tongue at first, but this stops almost immediately. Unusual, but not uncomfortable. Mostly sweet at first, with a medium dry bitter finish. Falls between an american pale ale and an IPA.

Pours a cloudy, medium amber body with lots of sediments of all sizes. Large, creamy, off-white head. Very strong hoppy aroma of mango, peach and other tropical fruits with just the right amount of caramel in the back. Strong flavour of mango, pineapple, peach, newly cut grass and herbs. Light sweet taste with a rather heavy bitter finish. Light and dry on the palate with a lively carbonation. A very nice APA that should be tuned down to 4.7% and put in the shelf of my local grocery store.
[33 cl bottle, enjoyed 6 months before BB date, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo]

33cl BBE 9/14 Pours clear golden with white, soapy, frothy head. I have not tried citra in homebrew, and this ale I believe gives a very nice overview of the hops. Used for both bittering and dry hoping. Refreshing fruity beer, with just enough carbonation and a medium body. Do not serve it extra cold - you might lose some character of the brew.
