Pours a light cola brown. Getting some barrel notes in the aroma. The first sip is very different. Lots of smoke notes a top was is a medium light base. A touch of molasses in there too.

750mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of light smoke, chocolate, and roasted malt. Flavour of chocolate, smoke, a bit of roasted malt - but pretty thin for an 8% stout. Leaves much to be desired, but decent.

Bottle at home, out of my newly nostalgic Maudite glass. God I miss my mTH glass, but it still is just out of my reach, mocking me on the bottom shelf on my glass cabinet. With my knee blown out at present, it is unreachable... Sad... Pours semi-opaque cola-black, moderate pale tan head, ropey lacing. Nose is dark chocolate, lioght brandy/alcohol, tar/smoke, and some light fudge notes. Deeper nosing discerns notes of graphite and dark berries. Flavours run to the creamy and smoky, very odd... Smoke, cream, pencil shavings, light soap, and tar in the mouth. Not as heavy as I was expecting, but still quite good.

bottle from nbutler 7/3/11. dark porter color with a small tan head. sweet scotchy aroma... bs, peat, roast, mild smoke and an unknown fruitiness. it tastes a lot like cola...mixed with sour smoke, roast and that weird fruit from the aroma... maybe a mix of peaty scotch and an infected porter....weird. 6/4/6/3/13

Bottle shared by a friend. Pours a clear reddish brown with a medium tan head. Fruity strawberry nose with some tartness and a bit of caramel. Malty and caramelly flavor with some tart fruit and a semi-roasty finish.

RBAG 2012. Welp, bours a rosewood colour (who says brown nowadays), looks like watered down coffee with a thin off white cap. Smell is roasty toffee - not quite as sweet as caramel, some roasty bitter quality, not really smoke as just strong roasted notes of wood. Taste is more burnt sugar, fig, little bit of smokiness but its really laid backwhich is ok by me, light spiciness. Mouthfeel is medium, slightly slick with a present but very calm carbonation. The flavours themselves are all pretty big in their own right but the beer itself is really subtle. Like fig or smoke is a big flavour but in this beer those big flavours are all dialed down.

RBAG. From 750ml brown bottle. Dark brown but not opaque, hazy. Very light ring of tan head. Nose has alcohol up front, some molasses, brown sugar. Taste has a roasty start, some dark bakers chocolate, finishes roasty and dry, little hint of smoke. Medium to full bodied. Light carbonation. Nice, mellow strong stout.

RBAG 2012 Brownish. Good pour, light brown tight head. Light smoke early but that fades out later on, meaty, raisin, touch of ash, bit of berry scent, cranberry, yay! The smoke in the mouth is pretty mellow but is tied in very well with the dry taste, weak coffee, but it comes across as a light weight. But with that said it’s a good medium complex brew for it’s mellowness. OK finish.

Pours dark brown-black with a thick tan head. Aroma is earthy, soapy, vegetables, yeast, dark fruit and sour. Taste is sour, smokey, Belgian yeast, and a bitter coffee finish. Nicely done.

Bottle shared by Dallas- thanks again man! A almost pure black color with a large off-white head. The aroma is sweet nutty and caramel malts and big smoke. A sweet cherry wood smoke flavor with caramel, yeast, very dry, some sweet sugars, very smooth. Unusual and tasty, has Belgian elements along with a bit of fruit and lots of smoke.
