From a 33 cl bottle purchased at Borefts 2012. Pours black with a thick tan head. Peaty caramel nose. Flavors of plums, toffee and oak. Bitter roast finish with a slight tartness.

Bottle (long time ago from de Molen beershop), bottled on Sep 15th 2011, medium sample. Dark color, some brown lacing. Aroma of huge raisin, like it’s an aged belgian dark ale (although it was covered with red wax, but it didn’t give a ’tssssh’ upon opening), slight roast, bit spicy yeast, slight fruity even. Sirupy raisin again, slight wood perhaps. Not much left of the peat barrel strangely enough, but like an aged belgian quad. Totally unexpected actually, but not bad at all.

OK, first of all, this looks nothing like a stout. It pours a murky dark reddish brown with little or no carbonation. However, it smells delicious, there´s waves of sticky chocolate and hints of spice and vanilla. It tastes quite different to regular Rasputin, in my opinion, but still not quite a stouty taste, it´s more like a really good barleywine. The alcohol is well hidden as is the whisky taste. I actually would have preferred a little more peat and smoke. It´s very easy to drink and it should leave you looking for more. On the bottle it states you can store for 25 years, good luck with that, mine lasted a few days.

33 cl bottle @ home. Bottled 15.09.2011, BBE 15.09.2036
Very foamy when pouring. Not very typical to BA IS – but very typical De Molen. Aroma has chlorine, some licorice and oat. Flavour has some peaty tones islay whisky, milky tones and even some vinegar elements typical to sour brown ales. Becomes rather stingy at the end of the glass. Confusing stuff.

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown, almost black colour with an off-white head. Aroma of lead, some wood and leather. Flavour of caramel, metallic notes, some red berries, unpleasant wort notes, chlorine and some herbs. Medium bodied and extremely high carbonation. Alcohol burns. Not balanced all. Bad.

tiong (5229) - Espoo, FINLAND - APR 26, 2014
330ml bottle from De Molen Beershop

Bottled Sep 15th 2011 - Pours pitch black with a large foamy head. Aroma of roasty malts, sweet syrup, hints of wood and whiskey. Taste is roasty, sweet and sticky with notes of syrup, wood, oak and whiskey. Finish is carbonated, sweet and syrupy with notes of oaky wood and whiskey. Quite unbalanced, too carbonated and messy imperial stout.
