JorisPPattyn (7308) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JAN 8, 2012
No head to speak of at first, gradually a small yellow rim building up, only to disappear again. Beer is black, but with ruby highlights. Strong phenolic Islay malt whisky nose, smoked and sweet ethanols and fusels. Chocolate, coffee, sweet ethanol and a palate of Islay whisky. Lot of phenols, roasted but surprising amount of sweetness, overall. Even red fruit (on alcohol) retronasal. Quite decent balance. Alcoholwarming, slick & rich body. Powerful beer. Despite the typical phenol-rich Bruichladdich, the necessary balance is there - strong achievement. However, Menno, PLEASE stop pouring that awful red muck over your crowncorks!

Neeskens (327) - SWEDEN - JAN 5, 2012
Very dark brown with some red to it, very small head. Extremely rich and sweet beer with the focus on the vanilla, wood and whiskey notes. Not as roasted as expected for a IS. The alcohol is very well hidden, but instead is overly sweet.

Starker Röstantrunk, der durch die noch stärkere Süße ausgeglichen bzw. übertrumpft wird. Zwischenzeitlich unausgewogen, etwas trocken, langer trockener Abgang. Nett! 14/11/11/12//12

Bottle, bought @ Skjold Burne, Aarhus.
Opaque brownish black with a thin, creamy, beige film head. Aroma has lots of chocolate, fresh oaky whiskey, vinious, plums, light roasted, nuts. Lowish carbonation, fat and oily mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of soft roasted malts, light smokey, oak, chocolate. Blueberries, plums and lots of oaky and light hoppy dry bitterness in the finish.
