3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 javiercrasher (79) - Granada, SPAIN - MAR 26, 2013
Lote 2011-09-15.
Negra con muy poquita espuma que desaparece rápidamente.
Aroma a whiskey, madera y un poco de chocolate.
Poco cuerpo y pobremente gasificada.
En boca el whiskey lo invade todo con mucha presencia del alcohol.
Bastante descompensada, el alcohol no esta bien integrado.
Principalmente le falta cuerpo.
Me esperaba bastante más.

Dark, small beige head. Aroma of rye, overripe fruit, vanilla and wood. Taste like aroma with some additional roasted malts. Hardly any imperial stout left. Taste us very much barrel aged. Full body, low carbo
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 bytemesis (1413) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - MAR 10, 2013
Bottle. Pours cloudy deeep brown but not quite black. Almost no head, but a rim of tan head forms late. Aroma is muted whiskey, roasted malts, cocoa. Flavor is lightly sweet, some woody astringence, definite whiskey notes, roasted malt. A bit uncomplex. Finish is quite warming and woody/whiskey. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, utterly flat. Not among the best.

Bottle at home thanks to an IP trade with Dennis - 10/01/13.
Pours dark mahogony brown with no head.
Nose is dark fruits, booze, wood, whisky, tobacco and a little background chocolate masked by the booze.
Taste comprises dark roast malts, molasses, sweet dark sugars, dark fruits, trace of liqourice, whisky, peat, wood, booze.
Full bodied with minimal carbonation, boozey sweet whisky finish.
Ok but had hoped for more - at least it didn’t blow all over the kitchen like Hemel and Aarde. Perfectly drinkable stuff which I enjoyed, decent enough balance if a little sweet at times, alchohol fairly well integrated but you are always reminded of it in the whisky flavour.

from Erzboerschof - very dark brown beer with no foam left; earthy with notes of whisky and black cherries; full-bodied and almost without carbonation; a fair sweetness and a late earthy bitterness; a woody astringency, notes of honey, marzipan and whisky in the finish

Brownish black color, light brown head. Good collar and lacing.
Peat whisky, oak, smoke, alcohol and does drop off to reveal, chocolate and dark fruits.
Whisky at first but slowly changes to base beer. Sweet chocolate, dark fruits, and licorice.
Low carbonation and medium feel. Pretty easy to drink really. Well crafted as get enough notes of barrel and of base beer. Nice stuff
