Bottle shared at Dean’s sticky table tasting. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of dark fruits and vanilla with funky sour aspects, should that be there? Flavour is over moderate sweet, light sour, moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Apple aroma. Nice roast too. Smooth and soft body. Very full, but not so boozy. Such a deep roast in the taste too, but soft and sweet. A little bit too much apple. Other darker fruits nice.

330ml bottle. Hazy brown color. Tiny to almost no head. Wine, grapes, sourish, musty, mold, alcohol and some sweetness in aroma. Sweet, moldy, prunes, raisins, plums, wine in taste. Full body. Soft to medium carbonation. Absolutely beautiful.

Not much head mild carbonation dark brown misty pour aromas molasses peat vinous woody vanilla dark chocolate dried fruit the flavours sweet malt molasses vanilla rich malt nice bourbon note woody taste is noticeable medium bitter sultanas barrelling is strong the finish okay but the tastes are over powered by the barrelling with the woodiness coming through strong nice malts and fruit tastes pity about that bad note

330mL bottle, pours a filthy dark brown with shitloads of yeast and no head - looks terrible. Nose brings out bourbon, vanilla and sludge - not sure about this. Flavour is bizarre, bringing out lots of bourbon, roast, cocoa and heavy wood barrels. Thin palate, with flat carbonation. Something is definitely off about this - must’ve got a bad bottle. It’s not a disaster, but far from elegant.

Bottle. Drunk alongside original rasputin with Martin Rachel and Ruslan. This one was clearly inferior to the original but sill nice enough. The problem for me was the barrel ageing. Far too woody. Perhaps allowing the bottle to sit for a while would produce more pleasant results. Judging by the generally positive reviews, I’d say it was a problem with the most recent batch only. Delicious base beer just overly woody. I love barrel aged beers usually.

Very dark ruby colour, beige head. Aroma of malts, caramel , bourbon, whiskey, vanilla, wood. Taste is light to medium sweet, not much bitterness. Medium to full body, oily to creamy texture, soft carbonation. A little bit of alcohol aftertaste, but in a nice warming way. Very good.

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2014 White longlasting head. Nose is sweet dried fruit. Similar taste. More barley wine than stout. Original Rasputin is not as sweet at all. A great sweet beer!

Bottle (330 ml). Bottled on July 2nd 2013. Dark brown with a small beige ring of foam and little to no lacing. Aroma is of bourbon, wood, raisins, alcohol and roasted notes. Taste is alcohol forward, too hot for my liking, bourbon, raisins, wood and fruity notes. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Slightly oily mouthfeel. Woodsy finish. Balance is average. Decent barrel-aged RIS, but De Molen can do way better.

Pours a very murky brown with minimal head. Strange green aromas, almost cooked greens, with wood, bourbon , light chocolate notes. Medium palate, a bit thin for the style I would say, very low carbonation, lots of caramel, brandyish, finishing on an alcoholic burn. Not so stellar for a BA Rasputin.
