4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours very dark brown to black with a medium, dark tan frothhead that lasts. Absolutely gorgeous.
Very malty with hints of dark chocolate and licorice with a growing boozy aroma American whiskey/bourbon. Bitter and boozy aftertaste. Slightly sour but dominantly bitter.
Body is very heavy and a full glass can take a while to drain.
I like this a lot.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled, dated July 2nd 2013, large sample. Slight hazy copper to redbrown color, tiny debris floating around, short off-white lacing. Aroma has quite some bourbon, vanilla, biscuit, some red fruit, hint of smoke and wood (most likely from the buffalo trace). Difficult to recognize the base beer, as it is mostly buffalo trace (having the bourbon next to it). Base beer only gives some chocolate and coffee extra, some very dark burned malts. Taste has some sweetness, lots of malty bitterness, slight alcohol. After sipping the bourbon next to it, the effect of the bourbon on the beer does diminish a bit actually and the base beer comes through more and more. Interesting to do this experiment. Back to the beer: seems to me still that the BA has given it a bit too much booze and certainly backs down the yeast esters that make the rasputin a rasputin. Interesting.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A black beer with a weak and beige head. The nose is salt liquirice and strawberry, also roastiness and strenght. Tastefull and interesting aroma. Taste is roasted, salt liquirice, vanilla, hint of coffee and wood barrel in the end. Surprisingly not full bodied, quite fresh and easy to drink. Good beer but I expected even more. Not so good as the great normal Rasputin.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
33 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with some sediment and a tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are booze, candy sugar, and dried fruits - with a bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from the Bierkoning. "Pale" black pour, as in very very deep brown yet not quite black, with thin tan foam. Aroma is heavy on the bourbon, pickle notes, woody, alcohol, roasted notes, dark chocolate. Taste is kind of ashy, quite bitter, high booziness, very woody, strong bourbony booze flavors. Palate is full bodied, low carbonation. Not bad at all, but far from what de Molen is capable of in terms of BA stouts.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark beer with a brownish head. Alcohol in the nose. Taste gives hints of chocolate, sweetness and overall very alcoholic and boozy. A bit of a disappointment.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Lighter coloured brew as expected. Almost no head, just a small lace. Wooden, spiced and liquour. A bit of leather and earth. Had more expectations from this beer for sure. Somewhere in the middle the mouthfeel even got unpleasant.

Tap at the Rake, pours a flat, slightly murky red-brown, nose is Bourbon and oak, with a touch of red fruit. Rich and dry yet syrupy, sweetens in the mid body but with red wine notes and a chewy woodiness, hints of aged hard cheese and a whiskey spiciness.
