3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared from Deanso at ABC beers. Pours dark brown reddish with a ring beige head. Aroma of peat, wood, roast, overripe dark fruits, caramel and booze. Flavour is moderate sweet, over moderate bitter and acidic. Why the acidic qualities? That shouldn’t be there. Medium to full bodied with light carbonation. Overall, this isn’t a bad beer, but the base recipe of Rasputin seems to have changed and isn’t the beer it once was. The aging adds some interesting aspects but would be so much better on the beer the Rasputin used to be.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
33cl bottle from ABCBeers.
Very thin white head. Clear deep amber pour. Watery. Some woody notes. A little sour. Not a patch on the original Rasputin.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2014 25.05.2013, tap @ HaandFestival:
Nice creamy longlasting head. Aroma is lots of unripe banana, wet leather, grass, dark malts, dark sugar, oak, peat. Taste is sour-ish peated, sour oak, wet leather, cocoa, citrus peel, grass, hay, sorrel. Medium bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Very strange, wouldn’t say this was a Rasputin beer at all.

On tap at Haand Festival 2013
Black, tanned head. Aroma of roasted malts, oak an Islay Whisky. Medium sweet, roast and toast, coffee and whisky, some booze. Moderate bitter. Nice Imperial Stout; still i can’t say i’m able to tell the difference between Caol Ila and Laphroig in an Imperial Stout :)

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Black pour. Slim tan head. Little bit of splotchy lacing. Smoky aroma with some prunes and malt. Taste is an earthy malt and watered down Scotch. A slight acetic note. But not overly so, yet. Would be afraid to let this one sit too long because of that.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2013 Bottle @ de molen. Aroma is big iodine, peat, slight smoke, Flavour has a sour note, also peat, iodine, rasputin almost totally pushed away, which is a shame imho.

33cl, as Rasputin ’Laphroaig/Caol Ila (Barrel Aged)’, new exclusive Dutch brew Anno 2013, from Melger’s Haarlem, complex Stout, malty/alcoholic and slightly roasted/vinous, not too heavy, balanced, hazy, nearly no head, very good brew, yet expensive!

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle shared by the Bierkoning crew, thanks! Pours pitch black with a small off-white head. Aroma is strong whiskey, not much roastiness or coffee. Taste is some whiskey, again not much roastiness or coffee and quite a lot of sourness. Not sure this was intended.

Sampled from bottle thanks to the Bierkoning crew @ Amsterdam. Dark brown color with a dark red glow coming through, small off white to beige head. Smell a lot of whisky, wood and alcohol. Taste malts, sour, some whisky but a lot of sour. Intended? Hmm not sure...
