Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours pitch black, 3cm of dark tan head that lingers. Dark chocolate toffee with sweet vanilla nose. Flavours are sweet cocoa mixed with vanilla ice cream and a roasty caramel malt. Nice contained bitterness. Really good value beer.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask at Great British Beer Festival. Impenetrable jet black ale with no hint of a head. Licorice, stewed fruit and vine smells. A sip gives wine like qualities, a mouthful gives whisky like qualities, and a drink opens up the beer - fruity, cakey, alcoholic and heavy. One for taking slowly and respecting.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Ølfestival 2011. An unclear, dark brown body is topped by a tan head of reasonable size. Some oak hints on the nose is soon overpowered by mocha, alcohol, and a little chocolate and roasted malts. The flavor has mocha and roasted malts, chocolate, alcohol, sweetness and a nice bitterness. Full-bodied and warming, but not boozy. Nice bitterness in the end. A fine beer indeed, but I prefer the regular Rasputin. 110527
