(Bottle #191 at Pikkulintu on 2008-10-30) Very dark brown with little hints of red. Bubbly and big lightly tan coloured head. Coffee and roasted malts in nose. Full bodied palate with surprising high carbonation. Coffee, roasted malts, a bit metallic flavour, some grass, chocolate and little bit sweetness in taste. Quite soft chocolaty aftertaste with some bitterness. Considering the EBU value the bitterness was well hidden. Really nice beer.

Bottle courtesy of tpd975. Pours dark brown with a one finger tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of caramel, dark fruit, light roast, and a touch of chocolate. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Very good.

(Bottled, 0.75l, 2008 version) Very dark reddish brown with a smallish, firm and lacy, beige head. Surprisingly ’Belgian’ aroma with dried fruit, lots of sweetish malt, some yeast, anise-licoricey spiciness. Roasted-malty, sweetish flavor with (again) dried fruit, spices, and yeast. Alcohol is fully hidden. Quite full, slightly slicky and warming body with medium, soft carbonation. This was slightly more a Belgian Strong Ale, than Imperial Stout - or maybe it’s a hybrid. In either case, I loved it! Wish I had a case of these beauties for Xmas...
